"Their was a slight hiccup in the pricing and after my check was cashed, Tom the owner called me saying he wanted to cancel the order and give me my 1/3 deposit back of $1,800.  I was devastated because I already had a previous door installed improperly and that had failed in less then one year. This was extremely traumatic after several weeks and a cashed check to hear that the owner wanted to cancel my order.  To make a long story short he thought about it....he called me back and decided to move forward with the order. The installation went flawlessly.  Very professional crew, love my new door.  Comes with excellent warranty.  My advice stay as far away from fiberglass as you can!!! Way too much flex in the door.  I did steel door  with wood grain look painted black at the factory.. Just remember "the cheap becomes expensive". Steel is the only and best way to go and slightly less expensive then fiberglass.  The most important aspect of door and window replacement for that matter is the installation! The people that install for Hammer and Nail only work for them. Even if I could find cheaper its not worth it. Installation is and should be your number one concern.  If you want reliability, honesty and integrity you must choose HAMMER and NAIL.

"Not that great to be honest with you.  I'd say about three weeks after the purchase date was when they came out.  What happened was I had called up about some work on my back door frame around the sliding glass door.  It had turned rotten, all the wood was rotten and everything like that.  This guy came was a carpenter and he repaired some of my deck too that had got rotten which was good and I was glad he did it.  The work he did around the door pretty much fell apart during the next rain.  So I had to pay another $299 only to have him come back, in the meantime since I couldn't get him back for another month or two I had somebody come and just go ahead and redo all the siding around the house and so they came back, there was nothing left for him to do there and in fact they had covered up all of his work with the new siding.  So basically the first time around ended up just being a wash, you know, like a kind of waste of money for me.  Then the second time he came he did some painting around some of the windows and did some other things, the first time he came he left an hour early.  It  was suppose to be three hours and he stayed two hours or something like that.  The whole experience was a positive one for me and even the company itself, when I explained what was going on, I didn't get a satisfactory response from them or any kind of, I mean it was basically, well he has no openings to come around for another month, well six months or something so, you know, I didn't find it to be good.  He cut out the old rotten boards that I had purchased, they said they would not purchase any materials whatsoever so I went to Home Depot, I got all those materials and he was just going to do the work, which he did,  and then the problem was that the work that he did around the sliding glass door frame, he tried to do some wood filler and once a big rain came it just washed out what he did. So just it wasn't really the kind of quality, it needed more time when I asked him to come out ahead of time to look at the job so that they could see for themselves.  They said they do not do that. When I purchased it I really felt like that was an important piece of it was to actually come out ahead of time and give an estimate on how long it would take or who could do the best job.  They weren't interested in that.  See  my wife was there I wasn't there so as far as him being punctual, that the fact that he left an hour early, that's no good.  The company itself I would give a D for professionalism but the guy who showed up, I'd give him a C.  It's been resolved.  What I ended up having to do was basically buy all new siding for the house since it sort of resolved the problem, it wasn't a problem that they caused it was just a problem that they could not fix which is something he basically said to me after he came to work and spent the whole money he said, I can't really fix this.  So I kind of wished he had said that before I spent the money, you know, sort of like on that if he had come and said no this isn't going to work that would avoided spending any money on him you know. "

FAQs for fabric awning or patio cover service projects in Baltimore, MD

With routine care, your fabric awning should serve you for five to 15 years. Durable acrylic and vinyl covers hold their color longer because they block UV rays and can be rolled up during storms. Wash the fabric twice a year, brush off debris after windy days, and patch small tears right away. Those simple steps help the cover shed water, resist mold, and keep its good looks season after season.

Yes—converting a fabric awning to metal involves swapping the soft cover for lightweight aluminum or steel panels and beefing up the frame to carry the added weight. Because the job calls for precise measurements and structural reinforcement, it’s best to hire an experienced awning contractor. An awning installation pro will confirm the mounts meet local codes and make sure the finished awning stands up to wind, rain, and years of sun.
