He also understood that this isn't our forever home, so while we do want to make it nicer, some projects are not worth putting money in to. They gutted our mudroom, replaced the old exterior door, closed in a window to provide better space functionality, built shelves in the mudroom closet to make it a pantry, insulated the room, rebuilt the unstable steps, instead outlets, base board heater, and new lights, replaced the flooring, replaced the roof over the mudroom, put up dry wall, and painted. They also installed a new exterior door in our sun room, replaced five old windows, and installed new outlets in our office. The workers were all very nice and you could tell they know their trade. "I live in a house that is over 100 years old with a stone foundation that also forms the basement walls. The old mortar between the stones had deteriorated over the years to the point that water would seep in in multiple places along the perimeter of the basement wall. This seepage basically occurred after every rain, and I always needed to move objects stored in the basement away from the perimeter for fear that they would be water damaged. I actually wasn’t very confident that the seepage problem could be fixed, but I finally decided to contact several basement contractors to determine if there was anyway to waterproof the basement.
