"We had previously used Phil to install an upstairs central AC system when we first bought our circa-1928 house.  After about a year, we realized we needed a new boiler installed, and got the best quote out of about 3, from his company.  Further, his quote was the most detailed and convincing that would be kept within budget.  He outlined the particular unit that would be required and the various components of the install, as well as the fairly specific date range he could come out.  This was in summer of 2014, and the install was set for mid-autumn.   <br /> Due to his scheduling, the install was delayed a short period, maybe a week.  The installation also took over a week, due to various other conflicts in his schedule during this time, so the install didn't happen all at once. That was not an issue since heat wasnt needed during that time.  If there is one thing I would mention, is that due to his location (Woodstock) and relatively few members of his company, it is not always possible to get instant service the way you would with a large brand-name HVAC company.  However, Phil makes up for it with his genuine interest and knowledge of each particular project, as well as reasonable cost.  <br /> In this case, Phil and his coworker Tommy spent a number of days completely rebuilding my boiler, since previously there were 3 zones serviced by 2 different boilers.  So they had to disassemble each old boiler, then install the new one along with the necessary pipes and pumps. This process appeared to be relatively complex and they performed the work with skill.  The new system is impressive and has greatly improved heating quality and efficiency in our house. Recently he came out to do a free maintenance check up on the system to ensure it was properly working. <br /> I feel confident that I will continue to use Philco for future HVAC needs, and strongly recommend him. <br />"

"As usual, the technician was on time--I was given plenty of notice--and he arrived within the window I had specified.  He found the problem with  my downstairs unit, which he was able to fix that day.  Later, he came back to finish my semi-annual inspection.  My downstairs unit is under my stairs and very difficult to reach; as a result, I am unable to check it regularly.  During his inspection, he found an overflow which would have saturated the beams under my house if it had continued.  He cleared the drainage pipes in both my upstairs and downstairs and prevented me from having a service call shortly thereafter.  This company has always been prompt and professional. <br />"

"My parents were pleased with their 22kW generator purchase and install from this company two years ago, so I asked for a quote from Blue Ridge. It was $900 less expensive than others I got, so I went with them. I'm a military veteran and get a 10% discount at Lowe's, and Blue Ridge agreed to match the Lowe's generator price. I have LP gas, so preferred a smaller 11kW backup generator to conserve fuel. Because it only took one installation day for my parents' system (with 4 crew), I assumed it would be the same for me. It wasn't. I had a 2-man crew, and it took 2-1/2 days--last half day because the installers didn't have the right wiring connector on their truck (and my house is over an hour from their business). We also had to wait about 3 hours after job completion for the county inspector, but the job passed easily. I have two 200-amp breaker boxes, but only connected one to this generator. I also had the installers swap one circuit breaker (for A/C unit) from the non-backed-up panel box to the backed-up one, which they happily and quickly performed. Installation crew were very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Their salesman and telephone receptionist were also very pleasant. Of all the companies I've dealt with in my house construction over the last two years, this one ties for top honors."

"The company is always reliable, highly professional and courteous and does the job right the first time. For the water well system, the well water presented a complex array of problems including e-coli contamination that could not be rectified due to nearby livestock grazing and high levels of iron and iron bacteria. Working with me, the Blauch Bros. personnel were able to advise me on options and we selected a filtration system that would allow my existing UV disinfection system to work properly, as well as adding a softener unit that would further filter and sanitize the water. After the system was installed, the well water coming through the house taps passed all sanitation standards which I verified through an independent, third party EPA certified water lab. Blauch Bros. also explained how to operate and maintain the system to me."

"They were extremely helpful and explained everything in detail that they were doing and were extremely careful not to track in dirt or mud on my new carpeting. Two different teams of two each came on two separate days and worked the entire day. On the first day, all of the plumbing repairs were made and dishwasher installed, which had not been contracted and ended up costing me more than had I had Lowe's, where I bought it from, install it. Nonetheless, it was done correctly and efficiently. On the second day, the service manager called and asked if he could put off until the next day having another team come out because of two emergency plumbing calls of major leaks, including one in a school. He said if it was imperative he could send a team out later in the day, but then they would not be able to finish until the fourth day. Because we were not planning to move into this house for a couple of weeks and I still had considerable other work, primarily painting (Yeah, I should have gotten it done before the new carpeting, but I am good painter and don't make much of a mess.) and adjusting doors and replacing or removing light fixtures, which I also do myself), the delay really didn't make much difference, and though I had a contract price on most of the stuff, I knew I had a bargaining chip for other things I discovered I wanted them to do. On the third day, the second team called to say they would be on time, to ensure I would be there (a 10-mile drive from my previous home), and when they arrived they immediately assessed the work I had lined up and jumped in. While one disconnected the old hot water heater, the other began installing a new service line for the electric one. After finishing with the water heater, one began working on the garage ceiling, including replacing an entire 4-by-8-foot section, while the other began working on the walls in the laundry room and the garage. The ceiling and wall holes had been made either by a plumber looking for a leak for the previous owner or the bank which foreclosed on the home. All of the leaking faucets and commodes were the result of the home being empty for nearly two years and having all of the water drained from the system, allowing the rubber gaskets, seals and flushing mechanisms to dry rot. <br /> The guys really liked the house, and when I ran into them a couple of months later at my father's in law home (I had recommended Michael's to his wife, after she discovered a propane gas furnace vent/drain leak.), they asked if they could come by later in the week when they would be working in the neighborhood to check the house out with all the work done and furniture in (Plus, they wanted to see my new big flat screen 3-D television, which is simply amazing, in operation. The two new TVs I bought for the new house had been delivered and were sitting in boxes in the sunroom, where the appliances were stored until being installed. <br />"

"Glover Enterprises was a pleasure to do business with.  All of the employees were professional, responsive and skilled.  A thorough assessment and measurement was done to determine what new fireplace should be installed.  The workers obviously knew just how to go about the job and worked until the job was done.  A follow-up visit was made to re-install some vinyl siding.  The new fireplace works beautifully.   I would not hesitate to utilized the services of this company in the future. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Basye, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
