"Dave and his crew exceeded our expectations. The finished a full house window replacement job in only 1 day including cleanup. They went above and beyond by fixing a piece of loose flashing. I would recommend Energy Windows to all. Ron Z."

"It took a little longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait. The installers were very professional and cleaned up after the installation, hauling the old windows and doors away. Excellent service and great prices. We had estimates from two other companies before we settled on Window Universe. We would absolutely use them again and refer any and all of our friends to them."

"The replacement of the patio door was difficult since the opening was not a standard size. Billy Mock, the owner of Old Town Windows and Doors worked with us to find a custom door that would work for the opening. We were very pleased with the door and delighted with the installation. Billy and his carpenter Tommy are true craftsmen and did a superb job installing the door and replacing the molding. <br />"

"The first installation was frustrating. One of the windows was mis-measured and it took over a month to replace. The basement windows (total of 6) went well. The picture windows, awning windows and 2 casement windows were ok, again with one mis-measurement that involved waiting 2 months for a replacement. One of the awning windows was installed too far into the opening, eliminating a ledge in the bathroom. There was one young man who twice made me cry with his callous comments, rudeness and lack of concern at my comments. If I'd not already paid a significant amount of money, I would have discontinued any more installations because of him. A discount was provided for the inconvenience of the two mis-measured windows but was only a small amount towards living with a partially completed job. The company had to be tasked with completing internal finishing, and they complained that they were not concerned about the interior, as much as the exterior part of the installation. Logic is not part of their thinking when both the interior and exterior of the house were affected (I could still feel a draft from the window until they took care of the interior). In hindsight, I would ask that they send another project leader with more maturity than the one they sent, who did not care what the bill payer wanted be provided. The house is more sound proofed, looks better and is more energy efficient. The windows are what I expected for the price and resolve the issues we had with the old windows."

"Excellent to work with. His quote was fair and better than everyone else we had quote the job. He explained exactly what to expect with installation. He was flexible with scheduling around our schedules. He communicated well, was very responsive, and was on time. He and his entire crew were friendly, professional, and polite. They did an excellent job cleaning up. The windows are beautiful! I would definitely hire him again!"

"After a bad hail storm on 2/25/17 in the Stafford area, and lots of research on roofers and shingle comparisons, we decide to go with Mills Roofing, out of Thornburg, Va. We wanted a completely new roof with new 6” gutters and downspouts. We went with them because they have been a family owned company for decades, offered a very competitive price and Michael Woodward, a family member and sale rep, was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. Additionally, Michael pointed out ways in which other roofers might skimp on materials and workmanship; industry inside information we would have never known without having talked to him. They always have a family member on the job site, and in our case it was Kenny Mills, a company owner and crew supervisor. He always answered my questions. I saw one of the workers installing what appeared to be a shingle sideways along the edges of the roof line and asked Kenny what he was doing. He said it’s their policy to install starter shingles not only above the gutters where the shingles start, but also around all the edges of the entire roof line of the house. It offers more adhesion for the end shingles to stay on during high winds. He said some companies do this while others don’t. We went with the Atlas Storm Master Shake Shingle with Scotchgard Protector (providing Lifetime protection against black streaks caused by algae, not just the 10 or 15 years as with other brand shingles). It’s a class 4, high wind/high impact shingle made with a rubberized polymer backing. It was a little more costly than the Atlas Pinnacle Pristine (a great shingle) but having just gone through a hail storm, we felt it would be well worth the additional cost. Kenny and his crew were hard workers and we were very satisfied with the quality of their work and professionalism. Since Mills stand’s by their work, you don’t pay them anything until the job is completed. If you are looking for honest opinions about your roof with quality workmanship and materials, give them a call."

"They took their time, in a good way, made sure the match was exact, that the windows were clean so their were no bubbles, and even cut the film a little shorter so that when windows are closed it will not peel, bubble or wear. <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Basye, VA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
