"Dave and his crew exceeded our expectations. The finished a full house window replacement job in only 1 day including cleanup. They went above and beyond by fixing a piece of loose flashing. I would recommend Energy Windows to all. Ron Z."

"It took a little longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait. The installers were very professional and cleaned up after the installation, hauling the old windows and doors away. Excellent service and great prices. We had estimates from two other companies before we settled on Window Universe. We would absolutely use them again and refer any and all of our friends to them."

"Billy Mock did a super job of replacing 28 existing windows with wood Jeld-Wen windows that I purchased from Home Depot.  Billy and his carpenters were responsive to our concerns about minimizing the need to touch up or otherwise repair interior wood trim, and suggested adding banding to the trim to cover marks from the existing trim given that the new windows were a touch narrower than the existing windows.  I prepped and painted (exterior) and stained (interior) the windows myself, and Billy gave me tips on how best to do it, given that they normally perform that service.  Very helpful.  Billy and his crew always showed up when they said they would, and worked so late one day to complete the job that I set up floodlights so we could see.  Billy was a pleasure to work with. <br />"

"The first installation was frustrating. One of the windows was mis-measured and it took over a month to replace. The basement windows (total of 6) went well. The picture windows, awning windows and 2 casement windows were ok, again with one mis-measurement that involved waiting 2 months for a replacement. One of the awning windows was installed too far into the opening, eliminating a ledge in the bathroom. There was one young man who twice made me cry with his callous comments, rudeness and lack of concern at my comments. If I'd not already paid a significant amount of money, I would have discontinued any more installations because of him. A discount was provided for the inconvenience of the two mis-measured windows but was only a small amount towards living with a partially completed job. The company had to be tasked with completing internal finishing, and they complained that they were not concerned about the interior, as much as the exterior part of the installation. Logic is not part of their thinking when both the interior and exterior of the house were affected (I could still feel a draft from the window until they took care of the interior). In hindsight, I would ask that they send another project leader with more maturity than the one they sent, who did not care what the bill payer wanted be provided. The house is more sound proofed, looks better and is more energy efficient. The windows are what I expected for the price and resolve the issues we had with the old windows."

"Excellent to work with. His quote was fair and better than everyone else we had quote the job. He explained exactly what to expect with installation. He was flexible with scheduling around our schedules. He communicated well, was very responsive, and was on time. He and his entire crew were friendly, professional, and polite. They did an excellent job cleaning up. The windows are beautiful! I would definitely hire him again!"

"Gregory's re-shingled my home about a year ago and the work was done efficiently, with high quality. The personnel were hard working and left the work site clean. Because of this positive experience, I hired them again recently to install shingles on my detached garage and gazebo to replace the wind damaged roofs. They also replaced some facia trim damaged by the wind. Jeff Gregory assisted greatly by working with the insurance company on the final estimate. This was a very positive experience."

"BUYER BEWARE. At first things went well. We had filed with our insurance company because of damage from the storms last spring. After agreeing to a contract with a young co-owner of the company who we came to respect and trust, the roof on our house and garage were replaced. They also put a roof vent on and needed to add vented soffits. Since some of the gutters were bad, we also had them replace them to avoid damage to the new roof, but learned that the areas where they were attached were rotted in some places. The partner who was supposed to be onsite to supervise sat in his car smoking the when he was here with an unsurprising result. Some, but not all of the soffits were replaced with vented ones. Debris, including nails that were to have been cleaned up were not, resulting in a foot injury for my dog. Over the coming months different people showed up at different times. One, apparently another partner, suggested wrapping the front wood on the garage near the roof. I said that would probably be a good idea, then the young man with whom we had agreed to the initial contract emailed me to say how much it would cost and I said that I did not want to do that. UNFORTUNATELY, I agreed to a contract that had a price per foot for fascia and fascia wrap, and mistakenly assumed based on the heads up on the garage that if the price was significant, I would be so informed before replacement started. BIG MISTAKE. I was sent a bill for $1825 for gutters and fascia and $2117.50 for the "services" of the fascia and fascia wrap. I also didn't stay outside for all the work and stop them, as I wasn't feeling well. I NEVER would have agreed to that, especially since almost all of the replaced fascia was on the garage. The young man had to come out himself to get the soffits done correctly and get all the nails picked up. All I can add is cavaet emptor, latin for let the buyer beware!"

"They took their time, in a good way, made sure the match was exact, that the windows were clean so their were no bubbles, and even cut the film a little shorter so that when windows are closed it will not peel, bubble or wear. <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Basye, VA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
