"He came on a Sunday as scheduled. Found a minor issue with the waste piping and fixed it. Only charged for the $49 consult. He was friendly and explained everything. Would definitely bring back next time."

"After a week of unsuccessfully trying to get our regular plumber here, I called Michael on a Monday afternoon about an undetermined leak (plaster and paint bubble filled with water in our 1st floor bathroom ceiling and wall) and he said he'd be here the next day between 9 and 10am.  <br /> He called the next morning at 8am to confirm and was here by 8:30, going right to work by testing 2nd floor washing machine, bathroom and kitchen fixtures to find the leak.  He found small leaks in the kitchen (faucet and drain pipe) as well as in the washing machine return hose and fixed them all by 9:40am.  He was very professional, explained everything and guaranteed his labor and materials for one year."

"We have spent over $400 with 2 plumbers trying to fix a leaking kitchen <br /> faucet.  It still leaks.  Bill  took a look at it and gave me some <br /> suggestions, one of which is it's inside the faucet itself. He also <br /> pointed out the leak which the other plumbers had never seen. He said <br /> the faucet should have a lifetime warrantee.  He had just spent 2 days <br /> repairing pipe leaks in my basement so I didn't ask him to try and <br /> repair the faucet.  He said it would cost more more than the faucet is <br /> worth.  It's a Grohe. <br />"

"Gibson White was recommended to me by the Noritz company as a certified installer. He provided a free onsite estimate. He then appeared to do research so that he would be fully prepared to do the work. He was very pleasant and professional to deal with. He had 2 men working with him who were also very pleasant. The job took longer than expected and cost much more money than expected because the gas pipes in the house had leaks and had to be changed. National Grid had to be called 3 times because of the gas pressure coordination, but the timing worked out well and the job got finished. It took 2 days to complete the work and Gibson was on the job for the full time. Considering that the gas pipes had to be replaced unexpectedly, the work went well and we now have hot water in the house. I would highly recommend hiring Gibson. I rated B for the price because I did not get an itemized bill with the breakdown of materials and labor. I received a list of what was done and a price for each thing. Considering the number of hours spent, the number of men on the job and the cost of the tankless hot water heater (listed on the website), I thought the price was very high. I do understand that there are other hidden costs involved, but I still felt the price was very high. I did not complain because I was satisfied with the work and the men were very pleasant and professional. I had extensive electrical work done in my house is Brooklyn and I got and itemized bill of materials and labor and I was very glad to pay the price because I understood what I was paying for."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Bayville, NY

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
