"I needed a roof repair asap per order of the health department . I hired DiOrio to do the work after another company failed to fix it properly. James and Derek dropped everything and finished the repair in one day. The price was reasonable and the work was excellent. Not a drop of water has leaked in and today we passed inspection. I can’t thank them enough."

"We hired RN Construction to help us renovate a very old house we purchased that had suffered major water damage from burst pipes the winter prior. I didn't know anything about RN Construction before finding him on Home Advisor and hiring him but I called a few of his references, which he gladly provided. I wish there had been a rewiew or 2 posted on Home Advisor as that would have increased my confidence coming into the project but Ron quickly earned my trust. I had a good gut feeling when I met him, and Ron always did exactly what he said he was going to do. Before the purchase Ron came with me to look at the property to assess the condition of the structure. We determined it was structurally sound and well worth the investment it would take to bring this house back to life. Ron, with the help of his recommended electrician and plumber all came to look at the house before we made an offer so that I could determine the likely cost of the renovation. Now it's a renovation and there were of course surprises and additional work we wanted done that bumped costs up but that is to be expected. A good rule of thumb is to take your estimate and multiply it by 1.5 with any project. This was no exception but when I do the math on the amount of hours and people on the crew who were here working hard every day, not to mention materials, I can tell you with confidence that we paid a very fair price for the work that was done. This was an older house built in 1742 with a lot of character that we wanted to preserve. My husband, 8 1/2 year old daugher, and I lived in the house while it was being renovated. If you have to spend 7 months of your life with a crew, I really can't imagine a better one to have around. They have a great camaraderie and are always courteous and helpful. Ron was always a phone call away whenever I needed him or had a question and was incredibly accomodating on all of our requests. The quality of work is top notch. Ron has decades of experience and has trained his crew well. Due to this being such an old house there were a lot of crooked floors and walls to deal with, which made this a complex project but looking around the house now you'd never know it suffered any damage at all. Ron and his crew really brought it back to its former glory and then some. We began the project in September of renovating this main house and also a guest house. Ron had estimated that we'd be done by late March or early April. It's March 31st and they are wrapping up the last few details here. My two pieces of advice are 1) if you're extremely fussy about materials (as I am) then do be sure to work with Ron to pick them out. And 2) treat Ron and his crew with respect. They deserve it and will return it. We feel very lucky to have found RN Construction. They will remain our goto crew for any future projects."

"I'm recommending Precision Home Care for cleaning and handyman work as well as general construction. I found PHC when I needed an industrial level cleaning at my neglected second home. Heather and her crew were not put off by the size of the job. They gave me a very fair price and their work was excellent. I was so happy with it that I asked her team to do some handyman work. Just like with the cleanup, the handyman work was done very well and on a timely basis. This gave me the motivation to get some bigger projects done, like replacing my old windows with energy efficient ones, among other general construction jobs. The team has been wonderful - fast, clean, skilled and pleasant to have around. They met with the window seller to measure and discuss how to fit the replacement windows in my old, not-square window sashes. The window seller went out of his way to tell me that "my guys" really knew their stuff. I already knew that, but it was good to hear from another source. Heather is the point person. She is friendly, accommodating, and very professional. I just can't recommend this company enough."

"Thanks to Peter Larkin and All Out Deleading, I was finally able to close out a long, frustrating saga of getting my lead-paint-covered, dilapidated windows replaced, along with some general deleading. Just to summarize, the work was done quickly and professionally and the windows themselves are of high quality, efficient, (Mercury Excelum EOS+) and look good, too! Peter was very responsive and communicated well throughout the process, and never fed me even an ounce of BS. You might have to remember to call him sometimes, but he's always there when you do. I thought the price was very reasonable for the scope of work (about $17k for 25 double glazed windows plus assorted exterior lead abatement, clean up etc) and was definitely lower than some others I found. If you're going crazy figuring out how to navigate Mass lead laws while also getting some actually good windows out of the process, just call Peter and he'll take care of you. Anyway, read on for the saga, if you're interested. I started the process of finding someone to replace my lead-paint-covered windows last September, and let me tell you I have learned a lot more about state lead remediation requirements than I had ever imagined I would. Let me just caution anyone in the same situation that there are two licenses/certifications that a contractor can have, a "lead safe" and an "authorized deleader," and for windows you need the latter if you want to end up with a certificate of deleading. Anyway, after drudging through the state's PDF list of contractors I ended up contacting one lead remediation firm, who strung me along for a few weeks before ghosting me by November. Then I found someone else, got a quote, took measurements, was all set before discovering they didn't have the "authorized deleader" certification, which would have prevented me from getting a certificate of deleading upon subsequent inspection. So I couldn't use them. Finally I called Peter in late February to come by and take a look by early March, which he did. Then Covid-19 happened and the world fell apart just a bit. Long story short, between waiting out the surge here in Mass and general pandemic related delays, we were back on track in the summer for taking measurements and able to order the windows. In the meantime, a crew was sent over to do some of the exterior work like wrapping the sills in aluminum. Peter's crew started the installation process literally the day after the windows arrived, which was the first week of November (storing them in my garage overnight). Be aware that you'll need to be out of the house for the duration of the work. Window delivery was a Thursday, they started work Friday, by Monday the lead inspector was back in, on Tuesday the results were back from the lab, and on Wednesday we were home. I will say that the floors were cleaner then we left them, and the windows looked great. Throughout this process, Peter either picked up the phone every time I called him, or called me back right after. He was always straight and open with me regarding when things were possible, the reason for any delays, and what potential pitfalls were. He was also extremely knowledgeable about government deleading requirements and could walk me through the details, which believe me, is something you want. And in the end when it came time to pay the final installment, there were no surprises. So if you want to save yourself a big confusing hassle and solve your lead paint problem, call Peter Larkin and let him take care of it."

"We had some much needed updates and maintenance done to our home that we purchased new back in 1990. I looked at a couple of home improvement sites and quickly noticed StG had wonderful reviews everywhere I looked. I reached out to them and Wayne, the owner, got back to me within a day and we set up a time for him to come over. He listened to what we wanted, made suggestions and got back to us with a plan as well as multiple pricing options to give us a few options for the work we needed done. We chose the option that was the best fit for us and hired them for the project, what a great decision that turned out to be! Wayne took care of everything for us including ordering all of the items and having them delivered to our home. He and his partner showed up exactly when they said they would and were very professional & friendly, we couldn't believe how quickly everything came together. My husband added a couple of extra items to the list, as well as some things needed more work than we had expected once they removed doors from our home. Everything was completely removed and rebuilt as needed, at the end of each day everything was cleaned up with no mess left behind. Wayne & StG Services deserve every 5 star rating they have received, if we need anything else done they will be the ones we call!!!"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Berkshire, MA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
