"Homeowner here... I can't properly explain how absolutely thrilled we are with the work that Bronson and the Brawny Builders have done with our lake cottage. Last summer, we started with a plan to simply paint the exterior. But the project slowly unfolded into something much larger. Bronson is not just a general contractor - he became a close and trusted partner throughout the entire project. He is full of creative and thoughtful ideas that enhanced the project at every step. He provided us with constant and detailed communication. His team worked with us to make sure that every detail was right. Here are a couple of examples where Bronson was able to improve the design or save cost: ** We did not want to expand the footprint of the house and add that cost, but we could not figure out how to layout everything we wanted. Bronson cleverly reused an old set of concrete stairs as the foundation for a washer/dryer stack. It was a great solution that worked out fantastic. ** We had wanted to add a half bath for years, but Bronson figured out a way to add a FULL bath. In addition, the new bathroom was connected (jack and jill style) to the main bedroom to create a master suite. It only cost one additional door, but it is now WAY beyond what we imagined. ** We originally wanted to build a deck on the front of the house, but Bronson helped to create a design for a covered porch with vaulted ceilings and a clever lower surround that blended with the lake environment. ** We found a number of structural issues with the old house during demolition. Bronson developed very clever and cost-effective ways to resolve floor, wall and joist issues. ** During each phase of the construction, Bronson developed thoughtful and clever touches. The lofted garage included an old second floor door for ventilation, and Bronson designed a design the new door that retained some of the prior feeling with a new and fresh update. ** We wanted to retain some of the historical feel to the interior, and Bronson cleverly retained some of the original paneling without feeling overwhelming. He framed the wall to make it a focal point without looking old. It is one of my favorite parts of the house. The lake cottage has been in our extended family for almost 50 years. It has been a great retreat for us, but it is now a proper home with personality and functionality to match. This project has literally transformed the house. "After reading the reviews below I was almost hesitant to call DNA, thinking "nobody can be that good." I was right--they're even better. I'm the reason there's such a gap in recommendations here--I didn't want them lining up jobs with anyone else! I'd been fretting about overdue home maintenance for years, but when a gutter inspector inadvertently dislodged a section of decaying fascia my hand was finally forced. I found this page and gave DNA a call. They were courteous and prompt, coming right out to inspect the problem and give an estimate, which was carefully detailed. The work was swift and perfect. Equally as important, Derek and Alex are the sort of polite, unassuming, conscientious people that one dreams of encountering. From that first day we've moved on to residing the house, completely remodeling the main bathroom, window replacement, AC installation, and a host of other things. This means we are together more often than many families are--obviously employing good, decent people makes a huge difference. They are superlative builders, equipped to handle any project that can be done in or around a house. So far I’ve needed carpentry, siding, plumbing, wiring, and more. Their work is painstaking and of the highest quality. They are also exceedingly patient with a meticulous customer who nevertheless frequently has no idea how to implement--or sometimes, even articulate--what she's thinking of (me). And one who has trouble making choices. I dithered over siding color for days--make that weeks--while they patiently brought out large samples of various colors and tacked them on the house so I could see them in situ. Remodeling is an unending series of such choices, so if they were ever to lose patience, I'd know by now. I could go on and on but this is already too long. Just one more thing: My two dogs can’t wait for DNA to get here each day. One of them is a very active two-year-old terrier mix, and when the weather finally improved this spring, I had Derek and Alex take a break from the home work to patch up a corral fence down at the barn, so I could train and play with my young pup off leash. They did so in a trice (and installed a new gate, and better latches for the barn doors; and mowed the weeds in the corral and then the field path), then Derek thought that Junie, the pup, might like a toybox down there. I thought that was the cutest idea I've ever heard! So he built an open-topped wooden box, affixed to the side of the barn at Junie-height, which has been a resounding success. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough."

"Purchased coupon on August 11, 2011.  Because I was remodeling my kitchen myself after work and weekends, I didn't have time to deal with the creating the room drafts, plans, layouts or measurements she required.  I did contact Jill and explain the situation and she was very understanding.  She said because I contacted her, not to worry about the deadline.  I remained in contact with her over the next few years (that's how long it took me) and when I was ready around the start of 2014, she worked hard to provide her new design.

"House was originally painted in 2006.  Advertising from company says paint lasts a lifetime, but unfortunately it doesn't....Nothing lasts a lifetime and warranty is only good for owners at the time of service.  With our initial telephone call I was told that the person I needed to schedule with was out of the country for 2 weeks and they would have him call me upon his return.  After almost 3 weeks, he didn't call so I had to call the office back.  The process of getting him out to look at the areas that needed to be touched up took several more weeks, each time with me calling the office.  This was also very frustrating since the only person that could help me worked part-time, so it was hit or miss to reach her when I called, and it was hit or miss for her to return my telephone calls.  After several weeks I was finally told the painter would be out on a certain day to do the work.  He and I walked around the house so I could show him the areas.  It was kind of a wasted effort as he missed spots I pointed out.  During the initial painting in 2006, the garage windows (2) were not painted at all.  He took care of those, as well as having to repaint 3 kitchen windows....All the windows that were done were painted shut AGAIN!
