"The quality of work was excellent, the technician was friendly and completed the work in a timely manner. The issue I have is that the company charges $125/hr for labor time, and for 1 pvc trap, a couple feet of 2' pvc, a quarter sheet of plywood, 1 bag of mortar, 6 feet of copper, 3 valves and misc right angles, the charge for materials is $170. I provided my own shower valve which I can buy for $30 or so at Home depot or Lowes, but they said the part costs $60. The business is marking up supplies, which I think is unfair, and had I known I would have supplied more of the parts myself, so as to save money. Thank goodness I had a Living social deal, which probably negated the mark up and saved me a little cash."

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"I am a UAB professor, and have been trying fix up my house since my retirement recently. One of the projects I had was rebuilding the torn patio in the backyard with concrete. I got quotes from 8 different concrete companies (selected from Home Advisor, Angie’s List, and BBB). Finally, after much deliberation (including following up with each of the 8 companies for additional details about the proposals to rebuild the Concrete Patio in my backyard), I chose Bethers Builders, LLC to do the job. Dan Bethers (the owner) gave, what I considered, a fair price for the job, even though his quote was not the lowest. What tipped my decision in his favor was: (1) the ease with which he and I communicated with each other about what I wanted to be done and his explanation of how he would go about it, and (2) his understanding of my desire that his crew to not mess-up my front lawn or crack the drive way in the front of the house with heavy concrete-mixing trucks or heavy Bobcats etc. He was able to transport the Quikrete and Portland Cement bags to the backyard without using the aforementioned heavy equipment. In the backyard, his crew mixed up the Concrete to finish the Patio project. He had 3 crew members that worked for 2 days. Dan was excellent in communicating to his crew members. Each time I had a question or concern, Dan Bethers would address my concern right away to my satisfaction. After Dan Bethers finished the Patio job, and I made the payment, a few days later following a rainy day, I noticed a couple of areas where there were shallow puddles of water on the patio. I complained about them to Dan. And Dan returned and resurfaced the area to minimize these puddles. I am extremely delighted with my decision to hire Bethers Builders, LLC to do the Concrete Patio job at my house. I endorse enthusiastically Bethers Builders, LLC and its owner, Dan Bethers, for similar jobs, without any reservation. If I have any future jobs at my house, I intend to hire Dan Bethers."

FAQs for gas, pellet, or wood stove service projects in Birmingham, AL

With proper care and maintenance, your pellet stove can last between 15 and 20 years. Regularly cleaning the vents, vacuuming the ash pan, and following the manufacturer's guidelines will help keep it running efficiently. Scheduling routine professional inspections and promptly addressing any repairs will ensure your stove provides reliable heat and operates safely for many years.

Installing a pellet stove can increase your home insurance rates because insurers consider them a fire risk. However, maintaining your stove correctly and ensuring it's installed by a professional installer can help minimize this risk. It's best to contact your insurance provider to find out how a pellet stove might affect your premiums.

Pellet stoves work by automatically feeding compressed biomass fuel into a combustion chamber to produce heat. When you set the thermostat to your desired temperature, the stove releases pellets into the firebox. Dual fans distribute warmth throughout your space while efficiently expelling exhaust. Integrated sensor technology ensures precise fuel delivery and consistent performance during the heating cycle.

Pellet stoves are highly efficient, converting biomass fuel into heat at a rate of 70% to 83%. Their advanced design, often with pellet inserts and sensor-controlled feed systems, minimizes heat loss and maximizes energy output. This efficiency can help reduce your energy bills while providing consistent, effective heating for your home.

There are several benefits to installing a pellet stove. They are easy to use—unlike other types of stoves, pellet stoves have electric igniters that make it simple to light them. Many models also offer conveniences like remote and smartphone control options. Another major benefit is that pellet stoves emit fewer particulates than other types, making them a cleaner option for your home. Plus, you don't need a chimney since smoke is removed by forced ventilation through a tube.

Always be mindful when you're near a pellet stove to avoid burns. You can install a guard or gate around the stove to keep pets and kids from accidentally touching the hot surface. When disposing of hot ashes, place them in a metal container, cover it with a lid, and store it away from your home. Make sure you're also using the correct pellets by double-checking the manufacturer's recommendations.
