"While trying to remove a Flowtite valve to replace the leaking coldwater supply hose  and valve to a sink in our condo bathroom, the 16 year old brittle CPVC pipe broke off at a joint inside the wall behind the vanity. Admitting that I was now out of my league,  I checked Angies List  and called Pro Tec before 8 on a Monday morning. After making sure that it was not an emergency ( I had shut down the main water supply before trying to replace supply hose) dispatcher said they would get a supervisor out  to my location as soon as possible as the field crews were already going on their first scheduled jobs. <br /> Dave arrived by 10. After inspecting the damage, he advised me on how he wanted to proceed with the repair. I gave the approval and he went to work.. <br /> His work at cutting the back of the vanity and opening up the wall was clean, minimally invasive and will be easy to cover over. He even took the time to make sure that residual water in the pipe would not drip inside my wall or on the downstairs neighbor's ceiling before cutting out the fitting that  needed to be replaced with the broken pipe. <br /> The pipe repair is less cluttered and looks better than the original installation.  While the glue  for the pipe repair set, Dave replaced the water supply hose and shutoff valve that started all of this. When the glue had set, he tested the system pressure. <br /> I am satisfied with the work, price and professional attitude displayed. I will not hesitate to use Pro Tec again, and am happy to recommend them to my neighbors. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Told the rep on the phone that we wanted plumber with a camera to come out to the house to and also asked about cost of hydrojetting since we knew from a past plumber that there was build up in the pipes. They would not tell me over the phone how much cost of hydrojetting was and then the plumber arrived with NO camera. We were charged an $85 service charge for basically nothing since the pipe was no longer clogged when the plumber arrived and we had wanted an opinion of the pipe build up, which I specifically stated when I called. Also, the quote provided for hydrojet service was literally double the cost of what a different plumbing company did the job for."

"Fantastic installation. On time and well done. Neat and clean with care taken for landscaping and appearance (gas lines are not beautiful so some allowance for what there is to work with). Wayne was pleasant and easy to work with. Yes, Babe's was not the low estimate - but you get what you pay for. Would absolutely use Babe's again."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Boca Grande, FL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
