"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"I confidently recommend Alltech Appliance for any appliance repair/ install. I had a split and leaking garbage disposal that needed replacing. Jason came out first thing the next day, right on time, pulled the old unit and replaced it with the new unit I had on hand. The job had a few hitches that would have discouraged me, but Jason cheerfully persevered and got the job done RIGHT. Then he tackled my aging dishwasher that had been neglected for over a decade, and sorely needed maintenance. It was a mucky, crusty job and Jason gave that old machine a new lease on life. Quick, courteous, thorough, and fair service is what you will receive from Alltech Appliance!"

"We called Murf to fix my daughter's dryer. She was nervous about having someone come to her house that she didn't know so I was there when he came. Murf was great. He was very professional and friendly. We both felt comfortable having him in the house. He fixed the dryer and the cost was less than I thought it would be. A few months later she needed his services again. He was there on time and fixed the washer, again at what she thought was a very fair cost. We would both recommend him for any appliance repair you need."

"After a power outage, our air conditioner unit was no longer turning on, unfortunately over labor day weekend. When manually forced to turn on, it was tripping the fuse of our circuit breaker. James (the owner), arrived within a half hour after we called for service at 2pm. He rapidly diagnosed and fixed the unit by replacing a fuse and the contractor switch. He had the appropriate part in stock on his truck and his entire service call took maybe an hour. It was clear that the price of the part was inflated on the weekend. The contactor switch retailed for about $230, but he'd verbally estimated $180 while diagnosing the unit and he very honorably stuck to his estimate rather than the retail price when he went to look up the price. After I asked about routine maintenance he mentioned that they have a preferred customer plan, such that service calls are free and parts are deeply discounted (eg. this part would have been $110). When I asked about our digital thermostat (which literally has at least 56 different settings), he said his wife would email me a copy of the manual (which didn't come with the home we purchased)."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Boise, ID

You should hire an experienced plumber for major repairs like persistent leaks, electrical faults, or complete unit replacements, as these issues require expert diagnostics and installation. For minor problems like clogs or small jams, a certified and insured handyperson can often handle the repair safely. Hiring a professional ensures the repair is done correctly, maintaining your appliance's performance and helping prevent future issues.

A garbage disposal lasts between eight and 15 years when properly maintained. Factors like frequency of use, regular cleaning, and following manufacturer guidelines can influence its lifespan. Higher-end models with stainless steel components typically last longer than budget units with galvanized components. Routine maintenance helps prevent early failures and keeps your disposal running smoothly. Avoiding problematic materials like fibrous vegetables, coffee grounds, and grease can significantly extend your disposal's operational life and efficiency.

Your garbage disposal may clog when food particles, especially fibrous or starchy materials, build up around the grinding components and block the normal flow. Dense foods like potato peels, rice, or pasta can cause blockages, especially if not flushed through with enough cold water. Regular cleaning and proper use can help prevent clogs and keep your disposal running smoothly.

Garbage disposals impact the environment by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and by using electricity when operating. By grinding up organic waste, they decrease the volume of waste that would otherwise produce methane emissions in landfills. While they consume some energy, using efficient models and following recommended practices can manage this usage. With responsible use, garbage disposals can be an eco-friendly option.
