"Brad Sayer Landscape Services Inc handled my front and back yard makeover. Brad's vision for my landscape turned out beautiful. His crew is awesome, they work fast, no nonsense, friendly, and I cannot emphasize that they know what they're doing. I was happy this project was completed early with no unexpected issues. In addition, I love my new drip irrigation. The neighbors all around have been complimenting how beautiful my yard is, how much they like the plants, and colors chosen. I would highly recommend their professional outstanding service for design and installation -- it is so worth it. Diane"

Small jobs welcome

"Edgar and his employees were amazing. Their bid was the best. Other guys said they would have to rip up pavement that this crew could do no problem minimally. The guys were so well groomed and polite. Not that that matters but it was an extra bonus. Lovely crew and incredible job in a few days. I will for sure use them again."

"We needed a complete overhaul of our backyard and hired Khiem and his crew for the project after meeting with several landscaping companies. Khiem was very professional, prompt to reply, and his crew finished the job earlier than what we had agreed to. The work that his crew did was very well done and we cannot be more pleased with our new outdoor space (artificial grass, planter box, new irrigation system and paver stones). We have already referred him to some of our friends who are looking for a landscaper and would absolutely work with him again!"

"It went well. It's a large process. Where I live they have to take out the stucco so it took several days but they were great. They came everyday and the job went fast. Usually when you see new stucco patches it looks bad, but they blended it in perfectly! Top notch company. Very impressed. The city inspector asked who did the job and I said Custom Exteriors and he said "Yeah, they do great work!""

"All the amazing reviews about SOD Home Group were spot on!  He and his crew were AWESOME! The work is superb. They did it in the time Oren promised and with attention to detail. He rolled with some changes and we couldn’t be happier. Oren was there every day to make sure all was going well, and he responded quickly to any text or question I had.Another thing I like about working with SOD Home Group was that everything was in writing. There were no surprises, and he did everything (actually more) that was agreed upon.We had SOD Home Group rebuild our entire home including the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, entry, garage and more…. Besides that, he added a set of stairs with 2 landings down the side of our hillside home. Part of the work was to remove the popcorn ceilings & re-plastering, removal of drop ceiling lights and install new lights instead. Removal of carpet and new flooring and molding installed, replaced old vanity with a new one. Everything looks so gorgeous, I couldn’t be happier.Oren’s prices may be higher than other contractors, but he is worth it for so many reasons. Mainly; I didn’t feel like I had to oversee every detail. Second, peace of mind- to know that the work is done right and will last. Our new home came out much better than we imagined and we are highly recommend Sod Home Group to all. Thanks Oren!"

"They carry some very cool stuff that you can't find elsewhere. That's their strong point... the inventory is amazing. Where they fall down is on service. They take deposits but don't help with measurements. They don't offer to deliver. And you're pretty much on your own when it comes to installation. So if you need any kind of serivce, get your installer hired ahead of time, otherwise you'll spend months chasing ANS. <br />"

"10/11/2012: The fence that Jorge removed was on a slope between two properties. Over the years a 50' portion was tilting so badly my lilac trees on the lower side of the slope were holding most of it up. Jorge estimated that it would take 3 days to cut down and remove the badly tilting existing fence, put new posts into the ground, and then build and install the alternating sections of fence boards. He was on time, worked a full day (even in light rain!), and finished the job in 2 days instead of 3. <br /> I was surprised and impressed when I saw that the area along the fence and under the lilac trees was cleaned of all debris and was actually much neater than when the job was started. Because of this, I had Jorge return on 10/29/2012 to repair the RV gate that had become very difficult to open and close. NOTE: The cost of the fence listed above was the total cost, shared by both property owners. The gate repair was done in less than an hour and the $90 included his time and all materials needed to complete the work. I intend to have Jorge return to repair the fence on the other side of the house as soon as possible. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Boyes Hot Springs, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
