"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"All workers were respectful and polite. They finished work in less time than I thought and cleaned up any mess which I appreciated. Tub and wall look beautiful. They explained how to use it. Customer service was great starting with sales rep and throughout installation. They removed the big whirlpool tub and installed a walk-in tub."

"Our main project work was performed in April and May 2017 with some subsequent work after we completed a new master bath in January 2018. The drywall repair phase in 2017 encountered unforeseen issues due to improper work done by a contractor used by the previous owners. While the cost of the project increased accordingly, Doug Fox (owner of Wolverine Custom Painting) was particularly good with clear communication and transparency as we expanded the project scope. The Wolverine craftsmen that performed the cabinetry, drywall and structural/fastener solutions for high ceiling drywall features were extremely thorough and skilled. The painting crew were excellent and took great pride in their work. Given the unusual nature of this home (in a Frank Lloyd Wright tradition) we are extremely pleased with the end result that highlights the barrel ceilings and interior features of this beautiful home. Wolverine Custom Painting was a 'one-stop shop' for us that exceeded all our expectations."

"Beware of the sales pitch, they keep stacking on deductions if you sign that day.
On completion of the installation, the bathroom looks great, but there were problems due to previous owners hidden wall once the old tub was removed. My concerns were that the installer and myself had different goals. He wanted to complete the job and I wanted choices. I lost. When we ran into problems and I asked what my options were, his responses were always and quot;I haven't decided yet.and quot;
The wrong tub size was ordered because of the false wall and I asked, and quot;Well it's just a tub, can we put in the right size?and quot; Didn't happen, and no options were offered. Options I thought of later such as 1. stop installation and order the right size; or 2. push the tub back two inches and give more floor space. Instead, a false 2 inch plywood wall was built behind the tub.
Another problem was the tub itself. I order the 17 inch high model thinking I would have more depth from my old 15 inch tub. Not so. Beware of inside tub not being the same depth as outside tub due to support feet under the tub of aproximate 2 1/2 inches. A 17and quot; tub measure 13 1/2and quot; on the shallow side and 14 1/2and quot; on the drain side. Plus the drain hole drops the actual water depth to 10 1/2 inches at the deeper end. This was not pointed out to me before purchase. In my opinion this is a manufacture flaw. The installer helped my out by plugging the drain hole.
I had to search and purchase the new floor tile. I made the right choice and it looks georgous. It was a hard job installing it because the old sub-flooring needed to be removed to match the curve of the previous wall tiles. A lot of unexpected dust. After two days dry time, I applied a sealer. However there were cracks in the grout after two weeks. Ken came back and fixed it and I applied the sealer again.
The third problem I had was a squeaky wall. Apparently the acrylic wall by the head rest was not sealed properly and it sqeeks when I use the tub and rest my head. Ken came back and tried to fix it by inserting foam behind the tub but was not successful. At least it's not a visable defect.
All in all my advice would be take your time and explore other options. Maybe I could have chosen all tile walls instead of acrylic and paid the same price. Go to your tile store and ask their advice before you sign with anyone. They might have more options. However my bathroom looks great and it will serve me for many more years and it is a step-up from what I had."

"Mark and his crew started by remodeling my last remodeled 70’s kitchen by tearing it out, and starting with a clean slate. They removed a bank of cabinets to open up the area so that it blended with the family room. The floor was tiled, new cabinets installed, a granite counter top installed, backsplash applied. I really appreciated Mark’s knowledge in selecting materials and and helping me make decisions. I couldn’t have such a beautiful kitchen without his guidance. I love the kitchen because it is modern and updated, and my neighbors and family are amazed because it looks larger and is such an improvement over the old kitchen. It is so easy to work in. Mark also replaced my front door with a beautiful new door that lets more light into my hallway. The keypad lock is something that I love, and again, my family and neighbors love the door. The crew also put up a new mantle on my fireplace, and tiled the fireplace, as well all the hallway in front of the new door. They also painted all the public rooms, in new, bright colors, so the whole inside of the house looks new, and not a throwback from the 1960’s. His crew was hard working, very professional, and were very conscious of keeping the workplace clean and organized. My dog happily greeted them every morning and was looking for them every day. Mark and the crew were easy to get along with, and really concerned with doing a great job. Mark had all the details in his head, and they worked constantly to make sure all the small stuff was done and the whole job was well done. He really enjoys the whole process. The guys showed up at 6 am (when my dog got me up every day) ready to go. Before they left for the day, they cleaned up and organized for the next day. I am so thrilled with the inside if the house, we are now getting ready to have Mark and his crew take care of the outside of the house. Mark arranged to have the roof reroofed, and replaced the skylight that were leaking. There are other things that still need to be redone, since nothing was done on the outside since the 60’s, including a new deck, new gutters, and woodwork. I am so pleased with the inside, and I am sure that the outside will be just as good."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Bridgewater, MI

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
