"I needed a huge picture window with 2 sliding side windows. I was overly impressed with the knowledge of Jon who came out to give me a quote and the two men (Juan & Juan) who did the installation. Choosing a window and installer was a nerve-wracking process since the people from the three companies who previously quoted left me wondering if anyone understood the window installation industry. But when Jon came out he immediately answered all my questions, explained the entire window removal and installation process, arranged for the certificate of insurance and the village permit. My windows arrived earlier than anticipated which was great and Mark called me to set up an installation time. I was extremely impressed with how efficiently Juan and Juan coordinated the work between themselves, graciously answered many questions I asked, and completed the job and cleaned everything beautifully way sooner than I anticipated. I would definitely recommend Scientific Home Services! "

"I’m completely disappointed with the customer service I received from ThremalCraft. I called them after I purchased our new home in July 2021 and realized how many of the windows needed replacing. I wanted to work with a company that I trusted. Thermalcraft installed our windows in Elmhurst in the 1980’s and more recently put siding on that home. We were very pleased with their service in the past. Jim, the owner, came to our house in South Elgin at the end of October 2021 and we placed an order for four windows. He indicated that the windows would be ready by February 2022. While I wasn’t happy with the delay, I understood the reason and was ok with the arrangement. In late January, I identified two more windows that needed replacement and called Thermalcraft. Jim was on vacation and Pat took the call. We agreed to a time for him to come out and measure the windows. On that same call, I asked Pat when the original four windows would be installed and he said the windows were due in one week and he wasn’t going to wait for the other two. Two weeks later while at the house Pat started to change his story. Pat said that he would try to put a rush on the additional two windows and install at the same time. I said I was ok as long as it didn’t take too long. The weather (and house) were cold and we were anxious to get the work done. I called Pat a couple weeks later and asked about the timing of the new windows. Pat claimed that he wouldn’t know for another two weeks. It was clear to me that this was going to drag out, so I asked Pat to install the original four windows as you and I agreed. His response was “That’s not gonna happen.” I was a bit surprised at his response and asked why not. He said, “because I’m not going to send my team out to South Elgin twice.” Once again, I was very surprised by the lack of respect for the customer. I asked Pat to cancel the additional two window so he didn’t have to “come out twice” and he said “Well, it’s too late for that,” even though the order was only two weeks in and he couldn’t even tell me when the windows were coming. Again, no concern for the customer and a bit “heavy handed”. Pat did call at the end of March to offer one date for installation. We were going away for that weekend and Pat said his installer would call to set up another time. No phone call. My wife called 10 days later to ask about installation and at that time, Pat called her back to set up the installation in April. Again, I can’t tell you how disappointed I am at the lack of concern exhibited by ThermalCraft for the customer. It’s really left a sour taste in my mouth and of course, I’ll never use or recommend them again. Ironically, we decided to replace the remaining windows (a total of 10) in our home about a week after my conversation with Pat. Needless to say, we weren’t going to call Thermalcraft based on his poor attitude. Fortunately, I found an outstanding company who came out the second week of February and installed the windows by the end of March only 5 weeks later (18 weeks less than Thermalcraft). They are actually located further away than Thermalcraft and didn’t seem to have a problem with the distance. The windows are top quality, less expensive and have a lifetime warranty. Several of our neighbors have been asking us for recommendations. I plan to promote his company instead. The bottom line: Don’t go with ThermalCraft as they clearly are more concerned with themselves and not the customer’s needs."

"It went superbly. The process was smooth from start to finish. All of the Preferred employees were very professional and I truly felt as if they valued my business. The price was slightly more expensive than some other companies I met with, however, when you add in the quality of their windows along with their excellent customer service, it was well worth it and I would do business with them again and again. I highly recommend Preferred Window and Door."

"I got quotes from several companies and JC LIlly gave me the best prices for either Marvin Windows or Fiberglass windows clad in black exterior, which I needed. Their prices for vinyl windows are not better than other companies' prices. I replaced two 37" by 74", two 23" by 74" and one picture window with obscure glass 22" by 54". The service was impecable. They were here when they said they would and did a wonderful installation job, leaving every thing clean. Additionally Jeannie was incredibly patient with my two hundred questions about quality and durability. I will call them again when I need to change other windows."

"The company is an efficient family-run business and very customer oriented. I asked for bids from three companies, and Windo-Well was the lowest. They manufacture their own custom-made covers that are of very high quality (you can stand on them.) Installations are done by Dave and his son who are sticklers for precise measurements and installations. They were also very courteous and respectful. Calls to the office are immediately answered by Debbie (no answering machine), Dave's wife, who does an excellent job explaining their covers and installation. From measurements to installation took only a few days. You can't go wrong giving them your measurements over the phone for an estimate. If you like what you hear, Dave will come out to do precise measurements and leave you a written estimate. It was a pleasure dealing with this company."

"Alan and Shane replaced all of our mid-80s single pane windows with OKNA 500 series windows. Alan came out to provide the initial estimate and Alan and his son Shane did the installation - no subcontractors just Alan and his son!! In addition they added a large picture window in our living room which completely changed/improved the space. On top of being extremely patient and professional (tolerated all my questions), the craftsmanship of the window install exceeded all of our expectations!! The attention to detail and focus on executing our vision was fantastic. They upgraded our inside casings to a ‘farmhouse’ style which turned out absolutely fantastic. They are true craftsmen!! I would highly recommend Meister Windows!! Thank you Alan and Shane!!"

"If I could give zero stars I would. I have windows installed in 2022 this company says they back their installation for 5 years and I?m also supposed to have a lifetime warranty on the product itself. Patio door window started leaking 11 days ago when we got the crazy rain. Reached out to James who is the owner of the company. He tells me he is going to come out and he never shows up, texts, calls. My last two messages to him have gone completely un-answered. I had a private contractor come out just to look and this was their findings: The nailing flange around the door and transom window they did not install flashing tape around the window or door. Also the j channel isn?t caulked around the window or door preventing water from getting behind the siding. Also missing caulk or cracked along upper transom window. Then the trim that connects the transom to the door isn?t sealed in left edge. For them to fix it they want $400. To me with those findings it is an install issue and s"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Burbank, IL

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
