"Our granite countertop had chips around the sink from years of kid abuse.  I set up an appointment with Brian and he was able to meet with me the following day for an estimate.  Brian inspected all of the countertops, but the only area needing attention was the edging around the kitchen sink.  It The was pretty beat up and we discussed and decided to bevel the front edge and fill grind/fill chips along the side edge.  Brian explained the work, estimated the time at two hours and we set an appointment for two weeks out. <br /> Brain called the day before our appointment and arrived as expected the next morning.  He taped everything off, went to work and finished as planned, including clean-up, approximately two hours later.  Brian also cleaned up some calcification along the back edge of the sink.  The granite around the sink is back to it's original condition and I can't see or feel where he did his repairs.   <br /> Brian also explained the limitations of the fill material used for some of the chips and encouraged me to call if we had any issues in the future.   <br />   <br /> <br />"

"We are very satisfied with the job Hoppe did! The price was reasonable and they did a fantastic job, completely grinding down the stumps. They informed us of their “no advance notice needed” option, which we went with, and the job was done within a few weeks after signing the job proposal."

"Penny was so dependable and reliable, following through with everything she promised & was hired to do. She has an incredible work ethic and the yard always looked amazing when she was done. I would highly recommend Penny for any job, big or small; we have been through 4 other companies before finding Planted and we’ll never have to look again!"

"After a year in our house, we learned our backyard floods in the spring and basement drips. We had several visits with landscapers and water mitigation groups, also our Village. Trenching and drain tiles were often recommended at a huge cost, and also requiring us to remove most trees on our property and create a swale between us and our neighbor. So expensive. We wanted a solution that could give our spring water a place to go, without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars and destroy our yard. <br /> What I appreciate most is that Kevin and his team were willing to work with us and our budget to find a solution to make it better. We're not fixing it entirely, but we're working to make it better and saving cost. His consultative services, ideas and availability were really great. Communication was quite good, cost was fair and work was done professionally and quickly. <br /> Out of all the landscapers, Hill & Valley was a mid-point on cost, and most willing to customize and work with us to find a middle ground for our problem. Some groups wouldn't even consider our project unless we tiled. So, I most appreciate their willingness to work with us. <br />"

"I purchased a Cambria quartz countertop from Old World Stone and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this experience. First, kudos to Jackie who was SO NICE. She will go out of her way for you. Second, the installers are real professionals. They were very nice, knew what they were doing and pointed out something that I didn't think about -- that there was only one way to install the faucet, handle and sprayer on the sink I purchased. I will definitely do business with this company again. Thank you Old World Stone! Great job, great people. <br />"

"They did a phenomenal job! We took out an exterior door and had them fill that with [unclear 08:32] stone because the rest of the house is [unclear 08:34] stone. He did a wonderful job. He actually did such a great job that my neighbor across the street came over and had him do work at his house. My neighbor said, "I used your masonry guy because I saw how well he did on your house. So before he was finished I came over and he also did work on my house." I'm like, "That's pretty d*** good." We had it done at the end of the summer. He was punctual. I got an estimate right away. Since it was an exterior job he came and went. If he wanted to come, if he was in the area he would just stop and do some work and then come back a couple of days later or whatever. So it wasn't a big deal. He did a great job. I would definitely recommend him. I actually am going to use him again to fill in a hole. We're actually going to take out an air conditioning unit that was in the wall that old owners had put in. So I will be calling him back to do that job."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Caledonia, WI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
