"I don't know how Ryan Lovejoy or his firm would have done if they had finished the job. After we hired him we never heard from him again! Ryan interviewed with us, shook hands on a deal with us, told us he'd be by the next week to start and we never heard from him again! We told all our other bids for our job we didn't need them. We sent him all our plans and permits and he was very agreeable and sent us emails for two months about the project. He met our family and gave us time lines for the project and a sewage company he wanted started digging. Then he never came by again, never emailed us back, never returned our calls. We thought he must've been physically hurt or something but no he just acts unprofessional. We are in an awful mess now. I advise anyone who speaks with him to be very careful. He is a liar."

"Unreliable. He gave an offer and I prepared a draft contract. He asked for changes and clarifications. Changes to extend time frame from 60 to 90 days accepted and clarifications provided. Even include an extra 30 days as buffer. The only thing left was to sign a contract. Doesn't respond to messages or phone calls. Looks like a nice and knowledgeable person, but doesn't like to be held responsible for the work and timings."

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Capitola, CA

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
