"Iâ  ve had major water issues in my basement for several years . Adirondack took care of the back( newer section) 5 years ago without further issues. Spring 2022, the front part of the basement was under 21/2 inches of water from ground water flowing (100+ year old house). I called Adirondack, explained the issue and they came right over and suggested a solution. It was very expensive but my basement had been bone dry ever since. From the office to the service people, they are kind , compassionate and Professional."

"Excellent Service! I highly recommend the Capitol Region Plumbing and Heating Services LLC! Avi, and Sean came to my home immediately when I needed their help with bathroom plumbing and a water pump system. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and thoroughly evaluated the problems. Their excellent assessment and quality of work were evident as I looked at their pictures of before and after replacements of PVC pipes for main sewer lines, sink and shower drains, and water lines for the toilet. Also, Avi and Sean installed a new well pump and pressure tank system. They even came to my home on a holiday to assure me that I'd have water. As true professionals, Avi, and Sean are efficient, punctual, and reputable. Their work ethic is commendable and gracious manners are exceptional. This was an incredible plumbing service that everyone expects and appreciates!"

"From consultation and scheduling to completion my experience with Astar was excellent. When discussing financing and scheduling for the initial walk-through, Jeremy made sure all my questions were addressed. During the walk-through, the installation manager Adam was knowledgeable and experienced and paid attention to detail to make sure he had all the information he needed to provide the best service. The installation crew was great. Rob, Rick and Ron were very professional, courteous and clean. When they were done they left everything as clean as when they arrived. The job was completed as planned and in the time frame they had given in the consultation. The President of Astar, Ed is hands on in all aspects of his company. He makes you feel at ease, is understanding and easy to talk to. He really gets involved. I would definitely recommend Astar to anyone."

"Pacific Stone did a nice job. Person in charge of scheduling measurements and installation was pleasant and courteous. Within a few days of my inquiry they came out to my house to take measurements and they brought samples to choose from. Installation was done within a few weeks after that. Took away the old countertops and sinks. They know what they're doing. One of the installers was actually the owner and they were prompt and professional and cleaned up well."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Caroga-lake, NY

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
