Plan was to cut down  all the weed growth on our cliff of a hill, spray everything with weed killer, cover the whole area with dormant seeded crown vetch which would germinate with the spring thaw and retake the hill with a solid ground cover. Unfortunately there is a crown vetch shortage so we are paused after phase 1. We will resume the project in the spring when hopefully the seed product is available.

I had a lot of issues with my back yard with water standing and it was difficult to use the back yard and cut the grass without causing damage. "The project went very well.  Storm damage caused by two trees coming down on two sides of the fence was repaired in 2-3 hours.  The workers reviewed all needed work from the estimate prior to beginning the work.  They even volunteered to replace a top rail from another section of the fence, not included in the estimate, that had been bent in a storm many years before.   The workers were very thorough, did not damage any plants or grass around the damaged areas and cleaned up after themselves.  The workers were knowledgeable and polite.   They made sure everything was nice and straight!  Everything looked very nice when they were finished.  The workers were approximately an hour late from the start time I had been given.  I called and was told they had gotten a late start.  Their good work made up for the lateness.

"It got off to a rocky start. I had sent in the contract and my money mid Fall and when the first snowfall occurred they were a no show. So, I called and they eventually got someone out the next day. Okay, I thought, I am a new contract. I must have gotten lost in the shuffle.
On the second snow fall, it was a heavy one over 1/2 foot, it took them 9 hours after the snow stopped to show up and plow my driveway. In essence I was stuck in my home until they arrived which was most of the day. I just didn't find this acceptable.  At the very most 6 hours after the snow stops, and even that is too long. The previous company that plowed my driveway would show up during a heavy snow storm and clear my driveway, and if it kept snowing they returned afterward to clear it again. And this hasn't improved. On average it is taking over 9 hours. On one occasion over 12 hours.
I can understand that being a fixed price contract they cannot just keep coming to my house multiple times for a single snow fall, but I cannot agree that this means I sit in my house over 9+ hours before they show up and clear a heavy snow fall that my car cannot get through.
Another complaint, and this is just about the nature of the contract, is that I signed up for 2" service. Which I thought meant that when I had 2" or more of snow in my driveway that they would come and plow. I was wrong. What I was told was that a single snow storm "event" (their word) has to be 2" or more. So, if it snows less than 2" on multiple occasions in a row and I end up with 4,5 or even 6 inches of snow in my driveway they will not plow it under my contract.
My final complaint is they just aren't doing a quality job. They don't make an effort to get close to the garage to clear it. I understand they don't wanna damage my door, but these guys have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of experience. You are telling me they can't get closer than three feet? Also, they just don't clear it from side to side. Every time they show up I have to go out with my shovel and shovel down each side of the driveway. If I didn't do this over time my driveway would narrow in size. I don't pay someone to plow my driveway so that I have to come home, or get up in the morning, and shovel it.
In the end I am just not getting the kind of service I expect for the money I am paying. I will be switching to another service for next winter.

Update: I had my asphalt guy out to see if my driveway needed a coating this year and he informed me that there are large gashes in my driveway from a plow truck dropping its plow. Great. I lowered my quality rating to a C."

"I am so very happy with my new bathroom and linen closet thanks to Tim and Colton from Handyman Connection! My bathroom had a leak that was not visible (had been leaking for some time). The floor and walls were heavily damaged. The work to be done was a complete remodel and repair of the bathroom and an update to the linen closet. The bathroom had to be gutted to put in a new floor and walls (there was mold in the walls). My contractor, Tim, always stressed my safety first. He remediated the mold and removed the terribly damaged walls and floor. He always made me comfortable that I wasn’t in danger of getting ill from the damage in the bathroom, making sure that the issues were handled immediately. During the remodel of the bathroom and linen closet, Tim and his apprentice Colton prepared the areas including laying down sheeting to make sure the floors in my house were not damaged or made dirty. I support the process of apprenticeship for companies to grow experience by hands on learning and am happy that Handyman Connection does this. Tim’s vast experience and his patience in explaining not only what had to be done and how to do it but also why it was being done make him a great teacher and Colton has an innate skill and learns quickly. When they finished for the day, they wrapped up everything and made sure the house was clean and in order. I had part of the garage ready for the replacement tub, vanity, shower/tub surround, etc. Tim always asked if he could keep items in the garage before leaving anything – I expected remodeling tools, equipment and product would be in the garage, but Tim always asked. Tim got it quickly that I liked more of a heads up when they were coming to work on my house, so even though I got the email that they were coming, Tim would text me to give me an hour notice that they were coming. And they were always at my house at the hour. The bathroom floor is now rock solid (before it was spongy, I didn’t realize how bad it was because I had lived with it so long). The tub and surrounds are much safer and attractive than the old tub and tiles. We collaborated on the new fixtures and in addition to replacing the tub, window, vanity, lighting, and other fixtures, I also got items that I hadn’t had before – a medicine cabinet and ceiling vent. The mirror was repainted to match the vanity. The walls were repaired and have clean lines, were painted, the popcorn ceiling is now smooth. The linen closet is so wonderful! It used to have unfinished particle board shelves that bowed in the middle. Tim created new shelving that has finished edges that look so upscale! The closet got a new floor, painted and a new access panel into the bathtub hardware. My bathroom is amazing! First and most importantly, Tim made it safe removing the mold and replacing the damaged floor and walls. Second, Tim and Colton made it functional. I don’t worry about the electricity or plumbing (no leaks now!). Third, Tim and Colton made it beautiful. It looks like it was pulled from a magazine it is so beautiful. Not only the repairs, installations, updating but beautiful finishing touches on the baseboards, window, and walls have elevated the beauty of my bathroom. Throughout the process, they were professional, respectful, always explaining where they were in the process and including me. It was great to see the progress every day. It takes more than just ability to get results this wonderful. It takes caring and commitment to your customer. I appreciate and value the experience that I received from Handyman Connection and am looking forward to the next project (remodeling living room, bedroom, front entry) which has already been estimated and soon to be scheduled!
