"It went very well.  They did what they said they were going to do; now it is draining well and the new grass has come in very well.  They came back after the initial work to follow up and reseed. <br />"

"Excellent work. I needed to schedule the project between another one which pushed the schedule into the late fall. While many other's were not doing small projects or had closed down for the year, Kevin appraised exactly how the special issues could be addressed in one day. He and his work partner worked together very well, both hard workers and accommodating to special minor details. I highly recommend this company for excavations."

"Lester the owner was on top of the project, he checked in with me on a daily basis and went over the project step by step until completion. I was very satisfied with the quality of work. I had a lot of issues with my back yard with water standing and it was difficult to use the back yard and cut the grass without causing damage. He recommended building French trenches which resolved the issues. The work was done timely and less costly than other companies. I highly recommend him and his team. I gave him 10/10."

"Andy and Jesse and their team at Beds and Borders were outstanding. We met with them late fall 2019 and they charged us a reasonable price for a comprehensive plan to completely re-landscape our home. This involved a new retaining wall at the front of the home, new front patio, multiple new planting beds, plant recommendations, sod work, a gravel bed under our trampoline, and a new irrigation system. Andy was very responsive and worked with us throughout as we asked for tweaks and revisions, how we could save money, what we liked, etc. The project was implemented this spring over the course of just 4 days and looks beautiful! We are very happy with the project and would definitely hire Beds and Borders again."

"exactly as promised, obviously a professional repair. Repair blends in perfectly with the existing chimney, also fixed the flue cable. Bid was the same as another I received from another established company, but I believe they used better materials. Also cleaned up when the job was finished."

"We met with Joel Forsberg to discuss our needs. He is very personable and knowledgable and understood exactly what we needed and had pertinent suggestions about materials. <br /> His experienced employees did an excellent installation job. There was a complication with a less important step in the job that involved spreading a small layer of concrete along the top of the stones that were at the base of the house. The problem was that it unexpectedly rained before the concrete dried, causing a film of concrete on face of the stones and making the concrete topping uneven. Joel responded quickly and removed the film. He also installed a mailbox post gratis in compensation. Great response. I noticed a crack on the side of the chimney that was allowing water to damage a wall inside the house. (This was not caused by the English Stone crew) I asked for help two days ago because we expect a thunderstorm tonight and Joel sent someone this morning to repair the crack. Great follow-up service. <br /> We have received many compliments on the new look of the stonework. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Chanhassen, MN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
