"Garage door had been stopping halfway up or down for a few days and had totally stopped working on a Friday before a holiday weekend. Had to take off the chain and raise it manually. Called Cheney Door Tuesday morning after the holiday weekend assuming they would be especially busy because of a short week. They had someone out in 3 1/2 hours and it only took 1/2 hour to fix. We had heard good things about this company and now we now why. could not be more pleased with the service. Highly recommend!"

"They did a good job of matching the panels w/ the existing ones, and the installation and alignment seems outstanding. But I had to take two days off of work, and they didn't show up or even call either day. When I tried calling them, I had trouble getting through their phone system. The trouble was that when they got the panels in, they weren't insulated, so they had to order the insulation and delay installation. They finally sent someone out on a Sunday morning to finish the job, but I wish the communication had been better, or if there had been a discount for the trouble. It was still cheaper than new double and single garage doors."

"<p>He has done a custom-built closet, which turned out beautiful. He also has completely gutted and remodeled a downstairs bathroom. It turned out beautiful. We bought our hot tub from him when he was in the hot tub business. We have had the hot tub for 16 years. He does very good work and is pretty knowledgeable, but one has to have patience with him because he gets off in different directions sometimes. I put up with it because I like what he does. Some people might be a little bugged because sometimes he says he will be back tomorrow, but then doesn't show up until several days later.  The only issue I have with him is his timeliness. He is working on my deck right now. He is repairing where I have a 100-year-old tree that grew and put a hole in the deck and buckled it up. We are just getting started on that project. For us he has done carpentry, plumbing -- he installed all the toilets and did all the plumbing work. He is also a licensed electrician so he has done electrical work and you name it -- deck work. He is kind of a jack of all trades. Right now I know he is working on someone's basement, supporting steel beams and all that stuff. That is why he has not finished my deck work because he is busy with the basement. He also put in our garbage disposal for us. That guy has done so much I can't remember everything. I have been dealing with him, probably, 20 years plus. On the fence his cost was about $3,000 and the materials were the other $3,000. He will save people money because he has the customer buy the materials after he tells them what he needs. He takes no markup in the materials. He even went with me when I  bought the materials for the fence. He only charges you for his labor. I have several other project for him to do including putting on a garage roof. </p>"

"After having lousy luck getting a more local repair company to respond to me, I found these guys and gave them a try. Even though he had given his guys the day off because it was snowing, he called them up and two of his guys offered to come off their day off to drive an hour to my house to fix my door. They were very quick and efficient. I haven't received a bill yet, but honestly I'm just happy someone came all this way to help. Because of the other lousy company I had to miss another day of class and had to rely on others to get my kids to and from school. Thanks to these guys life can continue as normal. <br />"

"Electric by Miller professionally and quickly provided a detailed estimate (which came in as best price among 3 estimates recieved) for the following work performed: Trenched and backfilled ditch, eliminating existing underground dock electrical service. Pulled new wire in conduit from garage to dock walkway and throughout renovated boat dock. Installed new 8-circuit disconnect/breaker panel (with required signage). Installed GFCI recepticle with weather proof panel at pole light. Installed 3 vapor lights fixtures (one with motion sensor), light switch and 4 GFCI receptacles w/ in-use covers. They provided all required paperwork/plans to the GRDA (approving authority for all things dock related), to include inspections which eliminated all administrative burden on me. <br /> <br /> Only days prior to work biginning, I requested a change order for extending the dock service lines around future site of a pool and outdoor kitchen/bar and to lay in and stub up additional 220 and 110V services at this projected location. They accomodated this 11th hour request and quickly turned a reasonable (cost) change order to the original estimate and began work shortly after this request. <br /> <br /> Upon job completion, they went the extra mile(s) in retrieving operating manuals from their purchase source, scanning and e-mailing me the operating manuals for the light and motion detection systems so I had details on max bulb sizes, optimal settings, etc.--very helpful! <br /> <br /> The proprietor (Kathy Miller) personnally inspected the completed job and determined that the light fixture/motion sensor combination was not as good as it should be (safety wise) for lighting the walkway approach to the dock (at night). She ordered a change to a flood light from the vapor light fixture...at the company's expense. <br /> <br /> I'm VERY impressed and pleased with the work done, competitive pricing and overall customer service and care! <br /> <br /> Electric by Miller is my Electrical Contractor of choice...and in this area they should be yours too!"

FAQs for garage door installation and replacement projects in Chanute, KS

Yes, you can replace just one panel if your door is sectional and the damaged panel is available. Most modern residential garage doors have four to six horizontal panels that can be individually replaced. However, finding an exact match becomes challenging for older doors or discontinued styles. For doors over 15 to 20 years old or with multiple damaged panels, a complete door replacement might be more practical and visually consistent.

Minor dents or cosmetic damage can often be repaired without replacing the entire panel, potentially saving you money. However, if the damage affects the door's operation, security, or structural integrity, replacement is often a better investment.

For extensive damage to multiple panels or older doors where matching is difficult, full door replacement might be more economical in the long run than multiple individual panel replacements.

Your garage door panel might be repairable if the damage is superficial and doesn't affect functionality. Small dents in aluminum panels, minor scratches, or cosmetic issues often don't require full replacement. However, replacement is often necessary if the panel is warped, has large holes, shows extensive rust, or affects how the door operates. A professional garage door technician can evaluate the damage and recommend whether repair or replacement offers the best value and durability.
