"Very professional. They did an excellent job cleaning all the air ducts and the dryer vent. Also treated the air conditioning vents in the attic for mold. House smells a lot better now. They would wear shoe covers every time they entered the house. Very reasonable in their pricing. I would highly recommend them."

"I had a wonderful experience with Boston Environment & Contracting. They came out on a Saturday to give me a quote and to get samples for testing. The quote was very reasonable and included everything from the removal to the air testing to take place after the removal. I got the quote on Saturday, got the asbestos tests back that Tuesday, and they came to the house to remove it all on Wednesday. By Friday they had gotten the air quality tests back and were able to remove all the safety plastic. This entire job took less than a week. I was in constant contact with them - they called to update me often and were always available if I called with a question. I recommend them HIGHLY."

"I was glad with how fast, friendly, easy it went for me to turn it in and get results quickly. They helped with my Angie's discount so it was good to know i got the best price (less than I imagined) to have this done. The possibility of having mold in a house is stressful enough... glad to have this go smoothly."

"We originally found AMS via Angie's List, and the owner came out very quickly to do a free inspection and talk to use about everything he was seeing -- high potential for mold within the walls of the shower, and other possible areas (on drywall of opposite side of walls, floor, etc.) He showed us all readings on the tools he was using, talked to us in detail about what he recommended -- namely, complete destruction of the tile-walled shower due to multiple instances of bad grout (old shower) and the resultant mold problem within the walls as well as on the floor of the shower. He also recommended some touch-up painting with anti-mold paints where water spotting occurred on our main level ceiling, rather than a more complex/expensive and in his view unnecessary ceiling patch. His crew was excellent, keeping things very clean and on schedule and luckily no major issues were found besides demolishing just the existing shower and raising up the old linoleum flooring followed by completely painting all exposed areas with Aftershock anti-mold primer paint to minimize problems in the future. He stayed at the estimate of about $3K for this work as agreed. (I eventually put in a new shower and floor myself.) For his second visit, he came out for another free inspection of some mold exposed in a main level bathroom ceiling when some plaster that had been wet down a few years ago when doing some cleaning broke away. This was a very small mold spot, and had a companion of some other mold shadowed behind wallpaper. AMS did another free inspection of this problem for me today, and advised that it was something I could definitely handle myself - ceiling and walls were bone-dry all around the area and it would be simple to just remove a patch of the wallpaper (which we plan to remove in this room anyway), scrub the mold with appropriate cleaner, re-plaster the small area of the ceiling that would need it, and then paint with Aftershock primer paint. He even gave me recommendations on places to get all my materials, including the brush I would need to match the existing ceiling texture. Even when I offered to pay for the inspection, he refused -- just asked me to write up a couple reviews, which I'm happy to do. I'm the type of person that likes to find high-quality businesses to form relationships with. As much as no one wants to use a mold remediation service, I would definitely call AMS again if I need to."

"I had an excellent experience with Vanilla Clean today. I love the fact that I was able to get an appointment with the company within a week. The person that contacted me after I wrote my initial angie's list email responded immediately. The two men that came to our house today were very knowledgeable and helpful. I am grateful that they cleaned my furnace, air ducts and vents."

"Jim came and explained the whole remediation process in detail. Of course we were shocked by the price, but we had a huge problem and it did take weeks to solve! We were so pleased by all the extra work that was done to leave our house clean and mold free. The crawl space looks amazing now and the pervasive smell is gone from the house. Everyone was a pleasure to work with. Jim came frequently to check on progress and explain exactly what was being done. My one reservation in recommending the company to others surfaced when I did recommend Chesapeake to a neighbor. The neighbor had Chesapeake come and do mold testing for a cost of over $1000. We spent this for testing, too, but knew the testing fee would go towards future work. However, our neighbor wanted to have several companies come to compare cost and treatment methods, and they were taken aback when another company said they did testing in multiple areas for a total cost of $300. Our neighbor did not like the idea of having such a high testing cost because they felt like Chesapeake was trying to force them to use them so they would not loose the testing fee. So, I would highly recommend the company and I don't think someone would be disappointed with the work, but if you are looking to shop around first, I guess you might want to get mold testing done by someone else if you don't want to feel the pressure that the huge testing expense creates. Of course we are not sure the testing of the two companies is equal, but this is something to consider. In our case, after talking with Jim and having an estimate and description of the work that would be done, we were comfortable doing the testing because we knew we wanted to go ahead with the work with Chesapeake once the results were in. <br />"

"Orange Flood was recommended to us from a friend. We had a pipe burst in our crawl space which resulted in mold and required us to replace the sub-floor and hardwood on our first level. After a few quotes, Orange flood team came in at the best price and with the best recommendation, beating the other top competitor by over $2,000. I will note that we tried to figure out the differential and learned that the other mold remediation company wanted to encapsulate the mold, while they wanted to remove the mold. After they cleaned the mold, the hygienist gave us the "all clear" that our house was completely mold free! The new floors look beautiful. When all the furniture was brought back in, they steam cleaned it and the rugs. I should add the cost for replacing the sub-floor and new hardwood came within the insurance quote, so we had to pay out of pocket only for the mold and the deductible. Any and all issues, concerns, questions were immediately addressed. At no time did we feel that they weren't responding to us and I would hire them again and have recommended them to others."

"The whole experience was incredible from start to finish. They were highly professional, courteous, diligent, and polite. The owner (Dirk) came out to give a free estimate and then we decided to accept the contract. Nick and Rob came out to do the work and they were phenomenal from start to finish. The biggest thing that was done was to remove an old leaking humidifier that was a source of mold. The humidifier, like all humidifiers, was set up to blow humid air throughout the house. Instead, it was blowing mold throughout the house. As of right now, the mold smell is gone and the inside air smells ultra clean. This was worth every penny."

FAQs for toxicity and mold removal projects in Charlotte Hall, MD

Remediation should keep mold from returning as long as the moisture source is eliminated. Fix leaks, control humidity, and replace water-damaged materials, then schedule periodic inspections to stay ahead of new growth. With those safeguards, your home can stay mold-free for the long haul while protecting both health and property value.

Most pros recommend leaving the home while they work on mold remediation. Removing mold stirs up airborne spores that can aggravate respiratory issues, and contractors can work more efficiently in an empty space. A short, temporary relocation keeps everyone in your family safe and lets the crew finish the job without interruption.

Mold shouldn’t return once the moisture problem is fixed. Stay vigilant: repair leaks right away, keep humidity below 50 percent with a dehumidifier placed in damp areas, and improve ventilation where needed. Routine checks for leaks and mold and quick repairs go a long way toward keeping your home mold-free.

Mold spores can trigger nasal congestion, throat irritation, coughing, wheezing, eye irritation, or skin rashes. People with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems often feel the effects sooner and more intensely. Some molds also release mycotoxins linked to serious respiratory or neurological issues. Swift remediation and better ventilation are the best defenses.
