"They did a great job. The grounds around my building had become overgrown with weeds. They cleared it all out very thoroughly and removed all the yard waste."

"<strong>An Exacting Carpenter for Exacting Clients</strong> <br /> In an industry that can seem pretty seedy, Marcello restored my faith in general contractors. <br /> After being burned by several builders, we decided to play GC ourselves. I called Marcello for an estimate: rough carpentry in the gutted four-season room of our 19th-century home. Within 24 hours, Marcello and his man Jared came out to hear our vision for the space. They listened and offered sound advice, and they refrained from pressuring us to go whole hog. (They split the estimate into rough work and the whole room.) <br /> Marcello was flexible and agreed to work within our budget to earn our business. <strong><em>Then he set about earning every future house project we do. </em></strong>Here's the breakdown... <br /> <strong>Materials & Scope</strong> <br /> Marcello replaced our floor with top-of-the-line lumber (ProWood), poured three concrete footers, furred the walls and furred and strapped the ceilings, removed a 13-foot load bearing wall, and installed a custom-made LVL and steel and concrete lally columns. <br /> He then replaced rotted sill plates and hauled off extra junk I had in my yard <em><strong>, items not in the original contract. </strong></em> <br /> The workspace was sealed off and red rosin paper was placed on the floors. Cleanup was immaculate. <br /> <strong>Marcello's Men</strong> <br /> Tulio and Tiago are consummate craftsmen, and they've been Marcello's right-hand men for years. When they encountered a serious snag - a roofline that dipped below the new LVL header - they convened with Marcello and came up with a labor-intensive solution that few woodworkers could pull off. They furred the LVL (easy) and then ripped 2x4s to build out the rafters from 0 at the eaves to 10 inches at the peak, leveling them every inch of the way up. The detail cost them an extra day of work. It cost me nothing. <br /> Oh, and don't mind the singing and laughing in Portuguese. These guys love their job. <br /> <strong>Marcello's Responsiveness</strong> <br /> Call with a question, leave a message, get a text 10 minutes later saying, "I'll be there in 10 minutes." This was not a major project for Marcello, who builds 10-story buildings, but you wouldn't know that by his attentiveness. <br /> <strong>A Contractor for Life</strong> <br /> If you haven't figured already, I am the most exacting (read: anal retentive) customer in Massachusetts. I ask too many questions, check in with my contractors way too often, and demand perfection from the first nail to the last brushstroke. <br /> Marcello is my GC doppelganger. You won't find a more perfectionistic, patient, and flexible contractor. I only hesitate to sing his praises because he might become too busy to work for me, but I somehow doubt that. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We were so pleased with the experience of hiring Archadeck to build our deck. From our first meeting with Krisoula through the completion of the job, everything was top-notch. I really appreciated Krisoula's vision, her expertise, her advice, and her knowledge of what would work in our space. We had excellent communication (Mike and Phill are both very accessible) and very realistic expectations of the timeline including duration of construction. We have done renovations before and this experience with Archadeck was superb. We are so pleased with our gorgeous deck which we will enjoy for years to come!"

"I have scoured Angies list and other professional services referral sites to help me with my project. After contacting a few companies and not receiving any call backs, I was able to get in touch with Justin at Northeast Hardscape. I am person who does his research and gets multiple quotes before spending money on ANY product or service. However, it makes life and research a lot easier when you come across professionals like Justin and his crew. I couldn't believe how well the entire project went starting with the initial consultation to laying the last brick. Justin was attentive to my wants and my ideas, he provided a quote with days of the free estimate. I reviewed the quote and found that he could not be beat for the scope of work I had requested. Justin kept in contact with me leading up to the installation date ensuring that we were on the same page with color and design. He and his crew showed up at 7:00am each day ready to work and completed this job within 2 days. Justin continued to communicate with during the project on any concerns or suggestions he had for my project. The job site was cleaned up each day and I was informed on progress. I am extremely pleased with the end result that transformed my boring outdoor space into a tiny retreat for my family and I to enjoy. Justin and Northeast Hardscape are the epitome of a total package - great price, professional, courteous, prompt, efficient, and quality work. I have already recommended Justin to a few family members and I look forward to working him in the future."

"I was extremely pleased with the work Elite Stoneworks did at my new house under construction. It was a large project: 6,000 square feet of pavers installed on the driveway, walkway, and patio. They were the lowest bidder on this job. Much more importantly, their work was superb, and the result is beautiful. Also important is that Andre, the owner of the company, visited the job site regularly and made suggestions for additions to the project for which he did not charge. The project manager for my builder was also on site every day and told me that he was very impressed with the quality of the all-important prep work (smoothing the surface, applying crushed stone and then stone dust, and compacting each layer) before the pavers were laid. I would recommend Elite Stoneworks without reservation."

"July 2010. As new homeowners there is always great caution taken when hiring contractors to take on small or large projects. If this is you then I urge you to consider Best Hands because you will be more than satisfied with the process, the professionalism, the crew, and the end product. Emerson is truly committed to you and your home project and wants you to have the best end product that can be developed. In addition, his crew is the hardest working group of people I have ever witnessed and made sure that excellent craftsmanship was at the core of everything they did. Finally, our project involved building and rebuilding retaining walls, a backyard patio, a long driveway with pavers and the foundation along the side of our home. Though the project was huge, they were in and out in two weeks and though we had to add a portion to our project Emerson was honest and more than fair in our additional expense. I would recommend BestHands to everyone."

"This was my first major "home project" so I went into it with a bit of trepidition, but I had a great experience from start to finish w/ Premier Pavers.  Some people here mention Ian gave them a "hard sell", but I had just the opposite view.  Of all the contractors, he spent the most time w/ me in the design phase and seemed to show the most interest in obtaining my business.  His price for the patio was roughly in the middle of all the quotes that we got which I thought was a good sign.  We were doing our research in Summer '10 and didnt want to start construction until Spring '11 which some contractors had an issue with, but Ian had no problem.  We signed a contract in Fall '10 w/ a good faith deposit and his crew were out at my house in early April '11 for construction just as we had agreed. Ian had a great crew at our house led by his project manager Mike.  They were dilligent, courteous and you could tell they took a lot of pride in their work.  All the work was done as I expected and they were very open to discussing any changes or concerns I had.  Likewise, Mike was very open and thorough when explaining any change orders, which there were some, but nothing that I would consider to be more outrageous than I expected.  In the end the job was done almost at budget and in less time than expected and beyond my expectations in terms of quality and output - which is all one could ask for.  Many people on here mention "a hard sell" from Ian, but if you aren't trying to gather more business as a small business owner than you don't care enough about your company and therefore your work.  A good consumer can get past the sell and focus on what's important which is the price & the work - both of which I was extrememly pleased with with Premier Pavers. I would gladly recommend them and my wife and I are very pleased w/ our new patio and hope to enjoy it worry free for years to come!"

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Charlton-city, MA

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
