"Rich did a great job with our garden design and follow-through. I had originally wanted to just get a quote for budgeting purposes but decided to accept his quote to do the garden install in the fall. He was very conscientious about early frost and had made a visit to apply some spray to reduce the impact of frost in late fall. He then made a trip up in the spring to check on the status of our plants to see if any plants needed to be replaced. I also had a problem with ferns growing out of control. Rich installed a barrier to keep the ferns within the area we wanted it to stay. All in all, I am very happy with what he has done and expect to use his services more in the future."

He was friendly and easy to work with, had many creative ideas, and really tried to understand our needs. He worked well with our general contractor. His price is very reasonable. I highly recommend him to people who want to create their own dream house, but need professional help to translate their ideas to doable project."

We are a professional landscaping service covering the Boston metropolitan area. Our services include: Landscaping, Lawn & Yard Work, Tree Services, Lawn Clean-Ups, Gutter Cleanings, General Lawn Maintenance and much more! Please call us today to schedule an appointment!
"He chopped the trees down and left each tree where it was and left all trees scattered everywhere. The branches are still piled up in one area but the chopped up wood is left where the tree stood. The deal was for $899 but he charged me $2500 and then lowered it to $1600 if I paid cash. The backyard is worse looking now than before. He did not give a receipt even though I requested it several times. I told him that what he did is not what I wanted and he proceeded to tell me that the branch will be covered with the snow. I should not have paid but I am a single woman and did not want to physically argue but I will report this to the attorney general. To date I have not received my receipt. I reached out to Angie's list but I don't qualify to speak to anyone because I don't pay/subscribe to where i can speak to anyone for help."

The Curtice Group is a complete design build firm including architectural design, project planning and completed construction. We don't just renovate your home - we are there with you for the entire project. We create detailed project plans and 3D designs so you can see what your project will look like before we build. We create temporary kitchens and stairs, if needed to make a construction zone livable. Our competition doesn't do that. We have a solid reputation for attentiveness, dedication and honest work. The Curtice Group is unique in that we offer completely transparent pricing. Our customers know our material and labor costs and how much they are paying for all of our services. Not only are we extremely talented builders but also friendly, courteous, and helpful. All our subcontractors are fully licensed and insured. Ask about our Angie's List discount. "As a testament to how happy we were with our first renovation provided by the Curtice Group in 2021, which provided completely new kitchen/dining/mudroom/bath, we hired Scott and his team again in 2024-25 for another major renovation. This job was composed of 3 main parts: a gut remodel of our main bathroom, renovation of a large attic space (about 700 sq ft), and whole-home conversion from steam radiators (gas) to heat pumps including removal of all radiators and a chimney. The bathroom now is attractive and more functional, the attic adds a large amount of useful space as an office/kid room/guest area, and central air makes a more comfortable climate. I’m a big fan of the design/build concept, because you really don’t want to separate those two elements into different contractors, and if you find a talented company, they can handle all aspects of the job fluidly. Scott Curtice has a real knack for design, he is attentive and cares about details, and he will perform carpentry and touch-up work as needed. Moreover, he handled all the project coordination so that we could do the jobs that we do well, which do not include home renovation."

"After several attempts to just hire Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction (during a bid process), I finally did. The rates seemed comparable, at first. However, there were many projects to be completed at my deceased mother's house. Because I am disabled and not able to get to the property, I couldn't see how badly I was taken advantage of. Not only did I pay for a job they did not do, I also paid for another job that is unfinished, plus a french drain that is causing a sink hole, and the buried equipment is now above ground. All 3 of these projects pose safety risks. The french drain collapse is only a few months after installation. After bringing these issues to the owners attention (the unfinished project I'd requested be completed for months), the owner began ignoring me. When I mentioned that litigation was going to move forward, the owner said he'd look at the work that week then blew me off again. When they actually do work, Golden Hill's quality of work is atrocious and will need to be fixed. They broke the house vinyl siding when cutting down a tree branch and refused to fix it. I hired a contractor to fix that. They will overcharge (snowplowing is expensive), take advantage of you if you are a senior or disabled, and will try to get paid without working. They should not be in business and allowed to take advantage. I now have to pay someone else to fix their work, finish their work, and do a $375 job they never did. They've been paid over $10,000, with more work to be done at multiple properties. They agreed to do a quote at a second property, then never showed up. One would figure, with that kind if business, a company would want to perform quality work and respond to a dedicated customer. Aroldo at Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction will do a poor job or not at all, blow off appointments, ignore requests, and refuse to fix problems. He will, however, not hesitate to pick up a check. You should not ever hire them. If you do, be prepared to throw money away."

We focus on all kind of projects, big or small. We do your traditional Landscaping such as cut grass, trim bushes/trees, pull weeds. We also work on bigger projects like creating new back or front yards and patios, and all kind of cement work. We work all year around and do our best to give the customers the best affordable price out there. We shovel during the winters and paint all year around, as well as much more.
"Hernandez Landscaping did an awesome job and not only did they meet our expectations they exceeded it. We recently took down a playground structure that has been up for over 10 years where wood chips were spread 2 times and then weeds and roots were taking over and we had no idea how to fix it. HLH came in, made a 12 ft circle area out of pavers and filled with pea stone for a fire pit area. They then raked and removed all weeds laid a layer of loam followed by sod! They were very reasonably priced. Came on the day they said they would be here and finished a day early than stated. Definitely will be hiring them back for future needs."

You should bring in a structural engineer any time you’re adding or removing something that carries weight—think new construction, a major remodel, or moving a load‑bearing wall. Call one during a real‑estate deal, after storm damage, or when you spot cracks in the foundation, beams, or chimney. An engineer’s report confirms that the structure is sound and tells your contractor exactly what fixes—or reinforcements—are needed to keep the home safe long‑term.
Who you hire depends on the task. Hire an architect to shape the look and layout of your home. Call a structural engineer to verify that load‑bearing elements—walls, beams, foundation—can handle the plan or to diagnose structural issues. Bring in a home inspector for a broad health check during a sale, after a storm, or for an appraisal. Matching the pro to the job keeps costs down and problems in check.
During the visit, the engineer checks your foundation, framing, walls, roof, and insulation, then compares what they see to any existing plans. If the structure matches the specs, you get the all‑clear; if not, the engineer outlines the fixes. Their sign‑off is what lets the next phase of work move forward, so expect clear notes on what’s solid and what needs attention.
Civil engineering is the broad field that covers roads, bridges, and other infrastructure. Structural engineers focus on the loads and forces inside a building or bridge—foundations, beams, and walls—while mechanical engineers design and keep power systems running, from elevators and turbines to HVAC equipment. In short, civil handles the big picture, structural makes sure it stands up, and mechanical keeps everything moving.
Most structural engineers offer free quotes. They’ll look at your home’s size and the scope of work to decide whether a flat fee or hourly rate makes sense. Simple inspections are usually priced by square footage; bigger, more complex jobs require a site visit and a detailed written estimate. Getting that number up front lets you nail down a budget before any drawings or inspections begin.
The engineer reviews every load‑bearing part of the home—floors, foundation, walls, roof, and major beams—along with insulation and the soil around the structure. They also factor in local weather risks and nearby water sources. The goal is to confirm that the materials and construction can handle day‑to‑day loads and extreme events alike, and to flag any spots that need reinforcement.
