"I hired Statesville Masonry & Decks for a covered patio and outdoor fireplace project. While portions of the work were started, the job was never completed despite full payment being made. Specifically, the contractor failed to relocate the outdoor fireplace to the agreed-upon location and did not cut an opening through the patio roof for the chimney, leaving the fireplace unusable. I made multiple attempts over several months to allow the contractor to finish the work. Several completion timelines were provided but not met, and the project was ultimately left incomplete with no refund or resolution offered. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company."

"I highly recommend A-1. I love my new carpet. I didn’t feel pushed in to anything. Price as fair and no hidden charges. The installers were great also and had my carpet installed in a little over 2 hours."

"Office people are very polite and helpful on the phone. The roof was inspected and the estimate for repairs and maintenance was provided in mid-June. This was a small job, so they gave us an estimate of timing and worked us in when they could. The company experienced some minor delays due to weather. They did an excellent job of communicating this to us via email. The work was done in early August, which was close to the timing they had projected. A good experience with a great firm! I highly recommend Hollingsworth Roofing."

"Pro: Meticulous, professional, timely, excellent work product. Would re-hire them without a second thought. Con: Can't think of any, except maybe that they aren't the cheapest? We tend to not hire the cheapest service providers anyway - usually get what you pay for. We recently moved to Charlotte; knew when we bought the house that the relatively recent addition needed some fresh attention to address the original painter's failure to prime, resulting in deteriorating paint as well as some wood rot on windowsills and trim. We saw Serpaco Painting busy at work on historic homes in Dilworth and decided that if they can be entrusted with that work, we should at least get a quote. The owner, Chris Gray, arrived to give an estimate and we knew right away he is the kind of person we prefer to give our business to. He took time to carefully evaluate the job and give us what we felt was a reasonable estimate - he described his business as not the cheapest but not the most expensive. When the crew arrived, his crew chief, Hugo, was also personable and professional. The crew remained roughly the same throughout the job and were pleasant and polite (never saw a cigarette around them, either). They consistently showed up when they said they would, explained what the day's priorities were and then followed through. Chris was onsite at least once a day to keep apprised of progress and to point out any additional priorities to Hugo and the crew, and also to touch base with us. He also provided well-reasoned advice about colors and contrasts when we asked. The job ended up requiring more woodworking than anticipated as there was some additional, hidden rotted wood. Hugo may be primary a painter but he is also an adept craftsman, rebuilding our front porch facade and column. They prepped more than any painting crew I have ever seen, sanding for about a week before starting any paint. The priming was thorough and the painting very well-done. When the job was deemed to be nearly complete, Chris came to walk around with us. He noticed the things we had noted, but also pointed out several other areas that were not to his liking; Hugo came back the next day to repaint one of our shutters that was a little streaky, and one entire side of the house that needed another coat to counter the effects of the sanding that was required (the extra coat improved it tremendously), but also to take off, sand, and refinish our front door. Although the front door was not part of the coat, it seemed that the bleach used in pressure washing the siding had dripped through the plastic-and-tape covering intended to protect the door. The refinished front door looks great, too. We are extremely happy with the finished product and suggested that Chris can keep his sign in the yard as long as he wants."

"Palmer's refinished a 6ft x 3ft mahogany mirror that has been in my family for 70 years, and facilitated the replacement of the glass. The job went very well and I'm really happy with the result. They picked up and dropped off, stayed within the quote, kept me posted along the way, and only required four days to do it. I absolutely recommend Palmer's and would use them again, maybe for an antique cedar chest my family has had over 90 years. I would trust them with it."

"They replaced all of my windows in 2008 but had to call them back out. they didn't include any drip cap or caulking over the windows. That allows rain to get inside and then wood rots. What kind of window company doesn't know this? Fast forward 11 years later when I'm preparing to sell my house. I request replacement parts for windows that aren't working properly. This should have all been included under warranty but all I hear is complaining about they shouldn't have to deal with it. I call the production manager monthly, for a year, to find out the status of my parts. He always promises to call me back but never does. Every time I ask him about the status, he tries to blame me saying I didn't do my part. I finally sell my house for less money because we didn't fix the window issues. Do not trust this company to install the windows correctly or honor the warranty!"

"Oracle Renovations were phenomenal contractors. Considering having a kitchen done before Thanksgiving and Christmas. They delivered exactly what they promised that we will have a working kitchen before Christmas. The General Contractor is well knowledgeable and how he scheduled all work sequentially worked so well in a proper fashion that we always had a functioning kitchen. The General Contractor and all the subcontractors that worked on the kitchen remodeling were always available and provided good sound advice when we needed their input. The owner of this business has good customer service. He always attended to our needs regarding the project and always told the different staff working on the project he wants the customer to be happy so he ensured the work was done to perfection. This business is extremely professional and have good technical abilities and craftsmanship compared to a lot of similar businesses. I have dealt with different remodeling businesses that failed to execute, so I am very pleased with Oracle services because they executed and surpassed our expectations. My husband and I will definitely hire them again for future project."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Cherryville, NC

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
