"Our front steps to our porch had seemed to settle, and there were cracks and gaps all over. Knowing we were going to have to rebuild them, we called VA Brick Dr first based on reviews. He even had us send him some pictures over text later in the day so he could start to give us an idea of what we were looking at. He came out the next day and examined our steps. He took a good long look at them and realized only one step had actually shifted, the rest of the steps and base were as they should be. He recommended only rebuilding the one step since everything else was measured correctly. Thrilled with that assessment, we had him do the work. I have no doubt other companies would have looked and just told us to rebuild the whole step structure, but he really took the time to make sure he gave us his honest opinion. About a month later he came and did the repair (weather kept delaying), and the end result came out better than we had hoped. He cleaned up the steps and joints all over, and looks good as new."

"ASAP is a top-notch company. When our upstairs bedroom’s window paint began to ripple and the window sill bubbled under the paint, we realized we had a problem. As we peeled back the paint, we realized the dry wall was unstable. A long-term leak had completely ruined the dry wall, the support beams, the insulation, and the window sill. We knew the window would need removed and the siding removed in order to assess the extent, and cause, of the damage. We obtained 3 estimates, and ASAP wasn’t the least expensive. However, Chris immediately informed us he thought the roof and guttering, not the window itself, was the cause of the leak. His experience with this type of damage in older homes won our confidence. Since it was close to Thanksgiving, we had to wait a couple of weeks for ASAP to get to work, but they completed an extensive exploration an d internal and external repairs, including a roof remediation to ensure the problem wouldn’t recur. We were extremely pleased with the final results, and highly recommend ASAP for any type of work. They are knowledgeable, thorough, and reasonably priced. Thanks, ASAP!"

"Fantastic customer service! I had a chimney inspection and some service done to replace the dangerously unusable chimney liner. They installed a new flue and now I have the confidence it will last the life of the house. On-budget; under-time estimate; and very great to work with."

"The work, which took about four hours, involved cutting away the old mortar and replacing it with new mortar using special tools. Cutting away old mortar creates clouds and clouds of dust, but Jim used a blower to move most of it way from the steps. Once it rained, all of the dust was washed away. There were some chunks of old mortar left from the removal process, but I think I got a good price for the work performed,"

"MLM is simply the best. From our 1st meeting with Scott Bolden, we knew we were in great hands. I will say Scott and his team went above and beyond with working with our insurance. Where several other roofing companies “ran away” never to be heard from again, Scott and MLM was willing to work with us and our insurance to the point where they were able to get our insurance to pay for the full roof replacement. This is after we only had the back part of the roof paid for, we sign to pay for the rest, but Scott’s team worked their magic (which no other roofing company was willing or able to do) and were able to get full coverage even after we signed!! Also, Angel Martinez is a great Project Manager bring on a great, nice, courteous, and efficient team to work on the roof. Not only did they replace the roof in 1 ½ days and left our yard and surrounding area spotless. Several days later they followed-up with several inspections and were willing to help with a few follow=ups – with no extra charge! Highly recommend MLM… We are more than satisfied!"

"Work went very well. Only downside was work was done in the rainy season and concrete truck got stuck in the side yard. I should have had a wider driveway installed. 14 feet was not quite wide enough for a 2 car wide driveway."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Chesapeake, VA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
