"Fantastic. I have never dealt with a company that was so easy for me. Axel and his crew were timely, efficient and never left a mess. Their estimate was very fair and exactly what I was invoiced. I didn’t have to wait weeks and weeks to get my project completed either which was a huge relief. The project looks amazing; it was exactly what we discussed. I would and will hire them again."

"Initially, I was very unhappy with the job. The floor was covered in smears and I was told I would need to wipe them off as the floors dried. The grout was also still very cracked and the few repairs that had been done just had grout pushed in on top of the cracked grout. The next day I called and expressed my dissatisfaction so they scheduled the technician to come back out a week later. By the end of another 6 hours, the floor is beautiful! Cracked grout was cut out in necessary spots, new grout put in, and floors hand buffed. Very happy with the end result....just a little tough getting there."

"Leon Easter did a great job repairing the masonry work around the chimneys and installing the beautiful chimney caps. He always let me know when he was coming or if there was going to be a delay, and was a pleasure to work with overall. Highly recommend."

"Graham did an excellent job on my brick patio! He had to first level the ground before building the patio and paid such great attention to detail. He worked very hard and completed the project on time! We love our finished patio! We would highly recommend Melville Stoneworks!"

"It went very well. They came when they said, did what they were suppose to do, cleaned up really nice, & charged us the best price of any of the estimates that I got. Justin worked with us from estimate until finished. If I had any problems or questions, I could call or email him & get a response by at least the next day. The crew were really thoughtful & hard working. I think they had to stay late one day to make sure they finished on time. They not only put up the new siding, but they tore off all of the old siding, wrapped the house again, & put up new insulation board. We were very pleased with how well it went & how great Jacobs Ladder handled things."

"We purchased our home in October of 2013. Nothing came up on inspection regarding any foundation or settling issues. Since moving in we started to slowly notice seems, cracks, and what seemed to be additional settling. We decided to remodel our kitchen. Knowing we were going to be adding extra weight to the areas of the kichen and dining room, I really wanted to have someone inspect the settling. Mike from Reliable was the first of 4 companies to come out and inspect the foundation, crawl space, and settling in the house. Mike was very professional and provided a quote the same day. He also included a quote on some chimney/brick work. It was my first quote so I wanted to see what other contractors etc... might say. Needless to say I had 4 quotes over a months time with 4 different opinions. The last inspection was similar to what Mike had quoted in the beginning but was approx. $1700 higher for the same amount of work. So, in the end a month later I called Mike and told him I wanted him to do the work. He gave me the original price and completed the work to my satisfaction within 2 weeks. We are able to start our kitchen project on time, Mike seems like an honest guy and seems like he has great, resonable prices. I would recommend him. <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Richmond, VA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
