"Although Norman was the best part of this terrible experience (nice, knowledgeable, and professional), the amount of money ?the office? charged me just to take down a portion of my ceiling (about 10x16) was outrageous. I asked for a quote to fix it only to find out that one was to take it down and one was to put it back. It cost me $3490 for about 4 hours worth of work and in that was $1125 just for an ?air mover? and a dehumidifier. I could have bought a dehumidifier for $189 that covers a 1500sf area at home depot. There is no way I would have paid $9000 for this job to take it down and put it back. No way I should have paid almost $3500 for a few hours of work for a job that was not completed (cause I was not paying another $5k just to hang drywall, finish it off and paint). I got another quote for 1/3 of that and they are going to replace my whole ceiling so it all looks the same. It would have cost me $3800 for the whole thing had I gone with this other company. I will not ever make this mistake again."

"We have used The North Star Companies for several jobs in the past, with the most recent being the largest. We hired them do a complete renovation of our home in Severn. The job grew larger as demo began and turned into a job requiring the rebuild of exterior walls, demo of concrete slabs - basically the house had to be rebuilt from the ground up. All new plumbing, electric, framing, windows, siding, roof, etc. I have known Chris for 20+ years and was confident that our forever home would be solid and done right. We had a few hiccups throughout the process - as this was done during Covid, so there were supply issues, delays and so forth, but Chris and his guys did an amazing job. We are a General Contractor and have been in business since 1995.

"One of my contractors used Petra Contractors to help complete a job earlier this year for one of my clients. Petra sent me an invoice when the project was completed and we notified them that we were not responsible for payment and gave them the contact information for the owner to collect payment. They never contacted the owner and 6 months later, I was served! They are suing me for the outstanding balance. I only received one invoice, over 6 months ago. They never tried to call me back to let me know the invoice was outstanding. We've done business with them before so they have all of our contact information. I called and spoke with the owner, Nancy, and explained that we're happy to help coordinate payment, but I want to understand why they didn't call me? My reputation is super important to me and a lawsuit is public record. Instead of answering my question, she started yelling at me about all they care about is getting paid for their services and not my reputation. This is not a company that I will ever do business with again. :("
