"Pavestone Rockwall pecan bricks were purchased by our contractor. Home Depot loaded the pallet on his truck and he brought it to our yard. While unloading we noticed a third of the pallet was pecan. The rest appeared as cinderblock. When returned to Home Depot they were very cooperative in refunding. Home Depot told us this is a common problem with this product from Pavestone. When Pavestone is contacted the say they will correct the problem, but nothing is ever done. My contractor has contracted Pavestone here in Denver and was told a representative would come to check out our issue. Never seen anyone from Pavestone. They are totally unresponsive to paying customers requests. Arrogant and rude to disregard customers. Find other product if you can! We now have a partially built retaining wall and my contractor is searching Denver to find a pallet tgat even has a few pecan colored bricks! Pathetic customer service"

"I bought a new patio table from NW Metalcrafters to replace an older one that was no longer usable. The salesperson Brian was very helpful with the sale, letting me take home color samples to match the new table's finish with my old chairs that I had planned to keep. Several days after the table was delivered, I noticed that one of the legs was bent at a welding joint. I sent photos to NW Metalcrafters and they agreed right away to get a new table from the manufacturer as part of the warranty. Andrew was helpful in arranging and scheduling pickup of the old table and the delivery of the new table."

"We had a 750 sq foot elevated deck built by Joel and the building team led by Matt. Joel was fantastic to work with from his first visit, design proposal and quote. The building team led by Matt did extremely high quality work and were great to design with as the project progressed. They were very neat and hard working. We were delighted with the overall experience, result and value for money. We would definitely work with them again and highly recommend them."

"Bought four plants with them over 2 year span for more than a thousand dollars, all of them had problems or died. The owner is rude (nice way to put it) and has a "blame the customer" approach. We first bought an aubrey ficus which was diseased with spider mites from day 1. We ended up visiting their store multiple times to try and cure the plant, each time being sold a new solution for dozens of dollars with assurances it would cure it. Ultimately nothing worked and we spend almost $400 for the tree and $200 on products to cure it. We also bought a pink drift role, a maple tree, and an alocasia plant from them. When purchasing we were given care instructions from the the store associate. B Both the maple tree and alocasia died shortly thereafter. When we revisited the store and inquired about what could have gone wrong, we were given a completely new set of instructions and told the old sales associate who helped us was misinformed. The store didn't offer an exchange, a refund, or anything to remedy the situation. They just said they offer no guarantees once the plant leaves their store. We've spent enough time in the store that most of the staff knows us by now. The staff is not well trained, give conflicting and inconsistent advice, and mostly make stuff up as they go. They are all afraid of the owner and agree the ownership/management sucks but are afraid to speak up."

"As a new summer season begins, I once again am reminded how frustrated I still am with this job. Maria was hired to replace the concrete floor in the garage, put in a new asphalt driveway with brick edging and apron, put in a new stone and brick stoop and walk. The walkway is fine although the stoop is now pulling away from the house. This work was completed in 2015, so maybe that is the norm. Wouldn't know because Maria never returns phone calls or texts. Our biggest problem was the driveway. She told us she puts the brick in cement so the grass doesn't burn along the edge as it does with a metal edge. Well it doesn't burn because it can't grow. We cannot grow grass up to the bricks because there is a layer of concrete. We cannot chip the concrete away because the bricks loosen up. It looks terrible. Again after months of trying to contact Maria we received no response. Additionally, there is a dip in the asphalt where water collects and ices up in the winter. Again, no response. The cement floor in the garage was supposed to be painted after it cured. Never done and again no response. Initially we considered having Maria do a stone patio in the back but her lack of responsiveness to issues that arose ended that!"

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Chicago, IL

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
