"Sliding door unable to move for years. Dexter was the only technician that came and was able to repair. He fixed some damaged wood. Change rollers and made a few adjustments. The door felt like new. Very professional, communicated thoroughly and got the job done. We have some window work to do and we will be having him back to do the work. I can’t forgot to mention his prices are better than every company I’ve ever had out to my home "

"This review is from work done last year. Mr. Handyman review 11/28/2018: Mr. Handyman (Eric V) sent a text with picture to say he was on the way. Overall, was very pleased with the work done and will use them again. Items fixed: Installed door sweep for the front entryway. Works fine. Took care of the draft. Replaced screen on porch door, and also stabilized the door frame. Working great."

"It was great! So professional and best of all, no up selling. He could have said that every screen needed replacing but he didn't. He suggested which were fine, which could be rescreened and which ones should be replaced. I really appreciated that. He gave me a orice on the spot and let me know exactly when they would be finished. The office called the day before reinstallation and gave me a one hour window. Andy arrived right on time with an assistant. The screens were reinstalled quickly and efficiently. I also had a concern about the center glass that was foggy and dirty between the two panes on my bay window. He explained why it happened and why it needed replacing. He took the measurements and said I would be called the next day. I expect to hear from them today. Without a doubt, I will both use and refer them in the future! I also loved that Andy wore scrubs, carrying the theme from their business! This is a great conpany. If you have glass or screen issues, call them. You won't be disappointed!!"

"Hodges Window and Glass couldn't have been better! I received professional service both over the phone and in person. The broken sash was able to be removed, so I could bring it into the shop. Within half an hour I was headed home with the repaired window, and the screen was ready the next day. Both people I encountered were friendly and helpful. It was a relief to find such an honest company that could repair the window in such a timely manner!"

"So we have an old house that had a perfectly leakless, beautiful, OLD (80+ years) glass-and-chrome shower door in it when we bought it.   <br /> Alas, the brackets at the bottom had deteriorated over time, and so the glass caught at the bottom and shattered.  We were heartbroken by this; we already could tell it would be impossible to replace this thing with anything approaching the same quality. So we came on Angie's List and found Ron, who came out to take a look.  And... who fixed it!  And seemed to appreciate it and its solid construction just as much as (if not even more than) we did, instead of trying to get us to replace it with something new. <br /> Ron made a pattern from the door to get new tempered glass for it - one way in which the original could be improved, because such glass didn't exist when it was made.  He also rebuilt the corners of the door so the glass wouldn't just start slipping down again.  It took a little bit of time, but it looks great and is working perfectly again. <br /> When he came to reinstall the door, Ron raptly recited all its virtues. "This has a piano hinge with a brass rod all the way down the length of it!" "I couldn't believe how heavy it was!" "They put putty all around the edges and then smoothed it off. I had to take it out with a DIAMOND grinder! It wouldn't budge for anything else!" <br /> I like having an old house with fixtures made before planned obsolescence in it. I'm very very glad to have found a craftsman who appreciated the need here for restoration rather than replacement.  Would highly recommend Ron's work to others who don't want to give up wonderful older glass doors and such just because they've encountered snags. <br />"

"We have used Thompson Creek several times over the years. We have had new windows, new siding glass doors and new front door with a storm door @nd a new side door. They are professional and always clean up. The office kept us up to date as to when they would be doing the install. Very happy"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Churchton, MD

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
