"Everything went very well. This was the second time, that I hired his services for gutter replacement or to install leaf guard. Both times, Mike was very professional and did what he said he would do, in a timely matter. Lastly, his pricing was more than fair. I highly recommend Mike's Gutters Service and will certainly use his services, whenever I have any drainage issues. Thanks, Ross Lujan"

"Solar Windows re-installed 4 windows in my home.  I bought these 4 windows at a big box home store 5 years ago and they were originally installed by a handyman friend who did a poor job and the windows were leaking both air and water.  After dealing with this problem for the last 5 years, I was looking for a company that really knew how to install windows properly, and fortunately I found the right people.  Most window companies won't install windows unless they sell you the new window - I know, I called several other companies and that's the answer I got, and I was about to give up.  Fortunately, Solar was willing to take on this job.  After a minor scheduling glitch, the owner, AJ, came out to my house twice before the re-installation - once to provide an estimate and another time to do some prep work. Great customer service. On the day the work was done, the installers called in advance and showed up right on time.  They told me it would take 2 to 3 hours, which it did.  The lead installer, Ronnie, said that he has been installing windows for 15 years and he is not a subcontractor - he works only for Solar.  That's the kind of guy you want installing your windows.  He did highly professional work - he custom formed the vinyl coated aluminum framing for the exterior of each window on site for a perfect fit.  My wife and I are so pleased and impressed.  We finally have well-installed windows that will be air and water tight and the aluminum trim work they did matches my other windows so well that they look like they were original on the home.  The price was also great - I couldn't be happier.        "

"We contacted Home Exteriors in May of this year for an estimate on removing copper gutters that are too small for our home and replacing them with 5” aluminum gutters with guards. Their salesperson came to our home on May 17th and gave us a written estimate for the work to be done. He spent a fair amount of time at the house, reviewed the roof and current gutters, and was punctual, friendly, and professional. Following that visit, there were a several “starts and stops” related to the scheduling the job and the work to be performed on our house, which required my husband to make a number of follow-up calls to maintain communication with Home Exteriors. Eventually, after expressing our concern with the delay on Angie’s list, we were contacted by the owner of the company – he apologized for the delay, and told that the drop-off in communication had been them trying to get us on the schedule and ensuring they had an installer capable of completing the gutter replacement on a home with a slate roof. On August 13th, the crew arrived at the house on time and fully prepared to replace the gutters. They were here for most of the day and everyone on the crew was polite and personable. The crew completed the job as originally quoted and was careful to walk us around the house to show us what exactly had been done. There was zero damage to the roof, they did a good job cleaning up, and there was minimal damage to our flower beds. The following week we noticed that the cement applied to the base of one of the downspouts had cracked – I called to let them know, and the installer returned the SAME DAY to address it, along with re-applying cement to the other downspouts! Overall, we’re very pleased with the work performed by Home Exteriors. It may have taken a little longer than we expected, but in the end, the quality was good, the price was right, and we know we are in good shape after seeing and hearing a big difference after a couple of good rainstorms."

FAQs for copper gutters service projects in Cleveland, OH

Copper gutters cost more upfront, but their 50- to 100-year lifespan and resistance to corrosion make them a practical long-term choice. They also develop a signature green patina that many homeowners like. If you plan to stay in your home for decades and prefer a low-maintenance system that handles harsh weather, the higher initial price can pay off over time.

With routine inspections and cleaning, copper gutters last 50 to 100 years. Over time, they change from bright copper to a muted brown and, eventually, a green patina that protects the metal from corrosion. Because the material resists rust and damage, you won’t need to replace the system as often as vinyl or aluminum, which last 20 to 30 years.

Exposure to air and moisture slowly oxidizes copper, transforming it from a shiny penny color to brown, then charcoal, and finally to the familiar green patina. In many climates, the full change takes approximately 20 years, although hot, humid, or coastal areas may experience color shifts sooner. The patina actually protects the metal, so you don’t need to polish or seal it unless you prefer to keep the bright copper look.

Gutters don’t have to match the roof or siding exactly, but they should complement the colors already on your home. Copper makes that easy—its color warms over time and pairs well with brick, stone, and most paint palettes. If you’re unsure which finish works best, ask a local designer or gutter professional to show you samples against your trim before ordering the materials.

The best material to use depends on your specific needs. Vinyl is the most affordable option and works well in mild climates, but it can crack in extremely cold conditions. Aluminum is an affordable and lightweight material that lasts approximately 25 years with routine maintenance. Steel handles heavy snow but will eventually rust. Copper costs the most, yet it can last a century with very little maintenance. Weigh life span, weather, and budget before making a choice.
