Customers say: Quick response

"Was struggling to find a reliable guy to do some paver work as well as a retaining wall for my backyard for the summer. I was recommended Art to come by. He was able to get a move on things quick. He had incredible attention to detail and was in constant communication with me. Gave some great advice about water drainage with the new patio and way to prevent stagnation of water. He also gave great advice on maintaining the area to ensure the longevity of the project. Overall great job and looking forward to having him do my front walkway as well!"

"This is now our second project with Roy and his Team. We recently tasked them with a large yard renovation and driveway project. The scope was very expansive: demo of existing hardscape, installation of drainage, grading, belgian block driveway curbs, belgian block apron, paver patio, sidewalks and more. The work and craftsmanship changed our whole yard and looks beautiful. The crew and Roy are respectful and friendly, highly recommend."

"Excellent! I can't say enough good things about this project. We live in a 1920 Dutch Colonial, our walkway was falling apart. Miguel gave us samples to look at that would match our front Brick porch. The brickyard he sent us to allowed us to bring samples home to compare. He ordered what we wanted and within 4 days began the project. He came early in the morning and stayed well into the evening and completed the job in 2 days from demolition and removal of the old walk to the installation of the new one. He seeded the lawn that edged it. We selected him because he a patio and driveway and walkway for our nextdoor neighbors. We've lived here since 1974 and people trust the contractors we use. We highly recommend him and we always like to hire local owner operated businesses. For an additional fee he planted 2 trees in the front of the house. We are very satisfied."

"Excellent! We were very nervous prior to meeting Luis, due to some other interactions with different contractors, but once he came he puts our fears to rest. Luis is very respectful of your home and cares about his work. He has a nice eye for design and putting colors together. We are happy with his attention to detail with the tile placement, grout, and caulking too. We love our new kitchen back splash and shower tile. I would recommend him to anyone with confidence looking for a contractor for tile installation."

"This place has a personal touch. When I first called, I told the person who answered the phone that I needed my driveway done with a short deadline. I was put in contact with the owner, Ryan, who dealt with me directly through the whole process. He really accommodated me.. nicest guy! He even called after the job to follow up and make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Of course it was great! You can tell that the product is quality. Done fast, done well, and done at a fair price. Couldn't ask for more. The guy really cares about his customers, and it shows in his work. I'm not a big online review writer, but if I was going to write one for anyone it would be for him and his crew. Happy customer here!"

"The project was started promptly, completed professionally without exclusions, questions or confusion. Thomas visited the site prior to giving a quote, even though my specifications were detailed and included a floor plan. He and his team arrived On-Time and prepared to work, and work they did. Installing 5/8" sheetrock requires strength, planning and care to achieve professional results, and these guys are pros! Every outlet and switch cut is point-on, every join smooth, every corner bead flawless and the ceiling and inner joins, perfect. 32 pieces of sheetrock installed to total professional perfection, ready to prime, in just 3 days. As a multi-home owner I will definitely be using Argostoli again and I am happy to offer my highest recommendation for their professional drywall work."

"The crew was good.  The quality of the work is good.  I would recommend them for any concrete work whether old or new or repairs from them.   They did a great job coming up with a good plan to repair my concrete deck around my pool.  Don't hesitate to use them.

"Rightway Waterproofing is the company you want to come and waterproof your basement. I had initially set up a job looking for pros through Angie's List. I was contacted by Rightway Waterproofing via phone and email but did not respond as life happens. Well it rained really heavy again in August and I had more water in the basement. I reached out to them on a Friday and Albert contacted me immediately. They were able to come out on Monday to look at my property. Jake was thorough and friendly. He let me know what he thought we needed, explained everything thoroughly and gave us a quote which was completely reasonable. We accepted the bid and work was to commence on Thurs as they had an opening. Work was completed in one day. The area was kept pristine and they did an amazing job. The crew was courteous to my family. I could not recommend them more. I hope to have them out again at some point to finish my basement area as well. Try to keep in mind that during the season of covid many families are looking for ways to make more space in their homes or to have to home projects done. If you are waiting for work to be done just know that it is worth it! Thanks Rightway!!!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Cliffside Park, NJ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
