"Heartwood was recommended by Reico Kitchen and Bath in Springfield, VA, my cabinet supplier. I'd originally considered engineered quartz but when three styles I chose turned out to be backordered I took a fresh look at the Corian offerings and chose a Private Collection style in Clamshell. The material is one and a half inches thick with the plywood backing so it replicates the solid look of stone countertops, even around the sink, where Heartwood also built it up. I have gotten so many compliments on it, especially from people who don't realize there are alternatives to granite. "He did a wonderful job. And one time, the door to the cabinet fell off. It was the door on the cabinet that we had put in the new shelving, so I called him and told him what had happened. He said, 'Do exactly what I tell you to do and if that doesn't fix it, I will be right there'. So, I put my son on the phone, my son got the instructions, he went and fixed it. It has been fine ever since.  He is really good. In fact, we have a home in Florida, I am going down there in another month and I am going to have the  same company do the cabinets down there too. Two years ago he came and put in all the ShelfGenie type shelving. They pull out, so I can stand next to the shelf and pull it out, load it up and push it back in. Same with my pantry, I no longer have a pantry that you have to dig in and out of, I just stand next to it, pull out the shelf, get what  need to and push it back in. It was expensive but it has been worth it. I have a herniated disc in my back, so getting things in and out of shelves is very hard. It made life beautiful. For most people especially young couples, I think this would not be something I would suggest them doing, but for older people this is really an A. You just have to have this done. When he was caught up in a job somewhere else, he called me.  So he did, every 15 minutes he would call me and say,  ''I am still here but I am coming'."

"I had a total bathroom renovation by Virginia Kitchen and Bath at Leesburg. It was a fantastic experience, and I would recommend them most highly to anyone. I needed to have the shower redone to accommodate my husband who has disabilities. From the very earliest design, the people at VK&B helped to make this fit his personal needs. The seat height was to his specifications as was the location of the hand-held shower. They built a ramp up to the shower entrance so that he could roll his walker as close as possible to the bench, and they built up the shower floor so there was a minimal threshold to step over. They removed the separate bathtub and installed a second vanity that had a leg space so he could sit on his walker and use the sink. This second vanity was lower in height and with the vanity cabinet lower as well. Not only was the design well done, but the construction was completed ahead of time. They told me in advance that the shower door would require custom glass and would take longer. However, we were back to using the majority of the bathroom in about 10 days, with the completion of the shower door taking another week. They resolved all issues. Overall this was a superb experience."

He then guides the process along expertly, helping to pick materials and fixing any seemingly impossible problems you may come up with. The cabinets are the finest we have ever seen, and the workmanship and service is too. Our penthouse was one of six homes chosen for the 2017 Reston Home Tour.
