"Kelemer Brothers replaced all my windows back in 2012, and I was very pleased with the windows and installation. This week I was cleaning windows and when I went to tilt one of them back up to close it, something snapped and the window wouldn't go back in properly. I contacted Joe and he responded within minutes. He came out later the same evening and within 10 minutes had replaced the broken piece and had everything back to normal. I feel like that's a very impressive level of service, especially since the windows were installed 11 years ago! They're just good, honest people who are a pleasure to work with."

"First let me say that I love the windows and that overall this was a positive experience. <br /> Their price was pretty much the same as Baltimore Glass Block.  I chose them because a local window company told me that they used MD Glass Block to fabricate any glass block orders they got.  That spoke volumes to me and put MD Glass Block's fabrication process/method above the competition. <br /> The communication, estimate, scheduling were all wonderful.  The installers arrived just after the late end of the estimated window (e.g.: 10 - 2 and they arrived around 2:30 I think - I didn't write it down and don't recall the exact time) <br /> My only disappointments with the whole process and product were the caulking and the clean-up.    The caulking is messy (installation not fabrication).  There are finger dents and some peaks and uneven spread.  I pointed this out to the installer.  He said that he was renowned for being a great caulker.  I said that maybe he was having an off day :).  He said that they had just switched to a new kind of caulk - maybe that was it.  He told me that after it dried I could sand it.  They had been there for a long time and I could tell that he was just ready to get out of here. Sorry - I just paid almost $1,000 - I really didn't want to have to do anything! <br /> I found a few nails on the floor inside and outside on the driveway that didn't make me too happy. <br /> When they parked the truck on the street, I went out and told them that the windows were going in the back and that they were welcome to pull in the driveway.  They said they'd stay on the street since the truck was leaking oil.  I was glad they told me but not too glad to see a rather sizable oil stain on the road when they pulled away. <br /> I checked "no" on using them again because there was no "maybe" option.  I still believe that they did a great job on the window fabrication and believe in their method so I MIGHT use them again if I had some warm fuzzy that the installation would be cleaner. <br />"

"I wasn't notified when the windows came in, i had to call and inquire. Once the windows were in, there were A LOT of reschedules mostly due to weather. However, the day of installation went very smoothly and the windows are very nice. I felt an immediate difference in the draftiness of my old house. I need other windows replaced so I will probably use them again, just not in the winter."

"In December of 2009 Mr. Edward Dunn, the president of American Windows & Siding of VA, Inc. installed 18 Sunrise replacement windows and 2 Sunrise replacement sliding glass doors with lifetime warranties and a 10 year labor warranty. Additionally I had him reside my house. In January 2017 I noticed that the caulk was pulling away from the windows and there was some minor water stains by one of the sliding glass doors. I contacted Ed and sent him pictures of the windows. He promptly arranged to come out and look a the windows and doors. He took one look and immediately agreed to do what ever was necessary to fix the issues. While he was there I also showed him some siding discoloration by the front door and he immediately agreed to have it fixed. For the next nine months he worked around my schedule to get his people out to fix the problems. On the 23rd of May his crew showed up to replace the damaged siding. They were extremely professional. They not only replaced the small area of discolored siding, they walked around the house and repaired everything else they could find that needed to be fixed (loose nails, a new shutter, missing hole plugs, etc.). Then in October of 2017, this crew came in and removed all the caulk on the windows and doors and re-caulked, and he replaced the sill-plate of one of the sliding glass windows and installed a custom drain pan to ensure there would be no more water seepage under the door. All of this with no muss or fuss. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of the people at American Windows & Siding of VA, Inc.. Mr. Dunn is a man of honor who stands by his word and I would not hesitate to recommend him or his company!"

"We were surprised that they could repair them because others told us that they had to be replaced. They came to our house, explained what caused the problem, described in great detail how they would repair the windows and then they did exactly what they said they would do in a timely manner. They are craftsmen who take pride in their work and know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it. It just doesn't get any better than that!"

"I can't be more pleased. Nelson and his crew were on time, efficient, professional, and courteous. <br /> They worked on 27 windows, most of them with old storm windows, and a few with screens. Everything looks like new and I'm very pleased. They were able to remove old grime and restore the outside view. <br /> Well worth the cost and there was no hassle. <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Columbia, MD

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
