"Walked into a flooded foyer and traced the water to my water heater. I called North Side, upon Angie's List's recommendations, and they had somebody here in less than two hours. Two and a half hours later they had removed my old one, replaced a funky valve on the gas line, put a new valve on my furnace humidifier, delivered and set up a new water heater and were cleaning up and leaving. From the time I discovered the problem to the problem being completely resolved was around 4 hours. Amazing!"

"It was quick and easy. I had already tried putting the pipe nipple on 3 times and couldn't get it tight enough to not leak since I had to be careful not to ruin the threads. They had a pipe wrench with a pivoting head that could grab it behind the threads. They arrived on time and completed the job in about 5 minutes or less. They wore shoe covers to not track into the house and the connection has not leaked since. <br />"

"The technician looked it over, gave us an estimate of $1775 to $2426 (depending on which water heater we choose - standard, deluxe or premier). When I said that seemed high ( we had paid $700 for the previous heater installed about 10 years ago ) he said because of insurance costs things had gone up. Then he charged us a $59 service call. we agreed to that price but later that night cancelled the job and got it done thru Home Depot the next day. We paid $1250, which was still high but about $800 less than Gibsons. they were here less than 2 hours."

"I appreciate the service tech providing my options and helping me choose the right repair at this time for my furnace. I have used this company for years. This company continues to provide excellent service, or I would not continue to use them. I cannot provide price as I am awaiting the bill, however, they have always been fair to deal with!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Columbia City, IN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
