"They did a great job figuring out how to install the pot rack securely into my ceiling. There were some obstacles to getting it installed but the crew was able to problem solve the issue and get it installed. Highly recommend!"

"My washer would not work. Ordered a new timer and was unable to install it. Nick came right over (on a Sunday-which was amazing)! He did a great job installing the new timer and making sure the washing machine performed properly. He also did some small miscellaneous jobs for me and is very pleasant to work with. I definitely will use Nick and his handyman services again! <br />"

"Both experiences were positive. All workers showed courtesy and respect. All work was professionally done. Each worker made a serious effort to do his work well. Our property was safe. At the end of each day work areas were cleaned prior to workers leaving. Acra's design center was inspiring. I chose to do much of the shopping from it. That extended the project of a kitchen renovation to a whole house experience! With the most recent project the sheet metal backing for a specific door and replacing wood molding meets the need to protect the area from further damage. We were pleased with all aspects of our experience!"

"Matt hung one shade sail in front an one in back. He did a very good job and was congenial and patient when asked to come back to reduce a wrinkle in the front shade, which was cause by buying too large a size. Will hire again if they do roof whirlybird installation.?"

"The people were very responsive to my call and I got an appt. within two days. Since it was not an emergency, this was fine. I was just wanting to stop wasting water due to the hose bibb leakage when I watered my plants outside. I thought $49 for an hour's plumbing work was a bargain. They called ahead and said they could come 1/2 hour earlier that day, so they did. They were able to replace one hose bibb in the back and said they noticed the front one was leaking too and offered to replace it. They completed both tasks to my satisfaction within one hour. He also took a look at my kitchen faucet which had a smaller leak, and said the whole faucet needed to be replaced, so I didn't ask them to do that today. <br> <br>They ended up charging me $50 extra for the parts ($25 each for the bibbs) in addition the original price of $49.00. That put the bill up to $103 including taxes. I wondered if I had been overcharged for the bibbs and in looking them up on the Home Depot site, I found the same ones for $20 each, so there was a bit of a mark up there. <br> <br>They were very polite and worked quickly. They also said the bibbs and their installation were covered by a warranty and I would never have to pay to replace them again and pay for it. This was not written on the receipt I noticed later, so time will tell if the company stands by that.  <br> <br>It was good to get it done. I am between home warranty policies right now and it occurred to me that if I had had one, I would have gotten parts and labor for $45 (price of the house call.) But, given the going rate on plumbers, I was satisfied to get the problem taken care of immediately. <br> <br>A. Dalton <br> <br> <br> <br> <br>"

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in Cortaro, AZ

Pressure-treated lumber is the most inexpensive deck railing material. It's a cost-effective option that offers a good balance of durability and affordability for budget-conscious homeowners. Pressure-treated wood meets essential safety standards while keeping upfront costs low. In contrast, vinyl, polyurethane, and composite materials tend to be more expensive but offer additional aesthetic and maintenance benefits.

To calculate how much deck railing you need, measure the length of all the edges of your deck where railings are required (excluding any openings or areas bordered by the house). Since precise measurements are crucial, it's a good idea to hire a professional. Contractors have the expertise to accurately measure and install your deck railings.

In most cases, safety standards require railings on steps with more than four risers, steps wider than 44 inches, and decks over 30 inches high, measured from the next level down.

Railings should also be between 34 and 38 inches tall. Regulations can vary based on your location, so it's important to check your local building codes or consult a local contractor. There are also rules about the size of the gaps between pickets and between the bottom of the railing and the deck.

Before installing a railing on your front porch, you'll need to check local permitting requirements. Local building authorities may have specific codes that require a permit—or, in some cases, no permit at all. Reviewing your city's guidelines and consulting a qualified professional will help ensure your project meets all legal and safety standards, preventing any unexpected issues during inspections.

Deciding whether to repair or replace your deck railings depends on the extent of the damage and whether you can match new materials to the old ones. If you have minor issues, repair might be an option. However, when it's challenging to match existing materials, replacing the railings can give your deck a fresh start and reset its lifespan. A decking expert can assess your railings and recommend the best course of action to improve safety and maintain a cohesive look.
