"Had an oil to lp gas conversion. Needed to replace the boiler, existing hot water tank and remove the oil tank. Joe's Plumbing gave a great price, neat work, honest and easy to work with. The materials were high quality and they finished a head of schedule."

"I contacted the emergency number as we were worried about possible CO from the boiler. We were promptly contacted by someone else with the company who put us on the schedule for sometime between 12-4pm. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a text, they text you when they are on their way, around 10am. John f. Was actually at my house 2 minutes before me as I was staying at my in laws house 10 minutes away. He actually called me to see if I was home and he waited for me as I was 2 minutes away. As far as the work, he was very thorough. He saw that my boiler had not been serviced in quite some time and that it was 33 Year’s old. I told him that we actually had somebody look at the furnace before we purchased the house and to service the boiler. Based on what he saw he seemed genuinely upset that the company that previously looked at the boiler has a license because of the shape that it was in. Needless to say we are looking at getting a new boiler and probably switching to natural gas from oil. Still pricing it out right now but will update my review if I choose JSP to install our new boiler. The cost we incurred during this visit was to keep the boiler running temporarily."

"I had to shut off the main water valve in my home to replace a fixture with no branch valve.  While in the process of shutting the valve the stem of the gate valve failed and my water was mostly off but not enough to stop the water.  After panicking for a few hours and trying to address this myself I called Duell for the rescue (on a Saturday).  Tyler showed up, and struggled with the curb box due to its age.  We decided not to mess with the curb-box to prevent a catastrophic failure at the water main.  He then froze the pipe before the valve, replaced the now broken valve and had water service returned in an hour or so.  During the process he identified another fitting that was close to failure in the same area and recommended replacement to prevent further issues.  He had to come back during the week to fix that due to part availability but overall my main water service is much more reliable than it was previously.  Great service, very responsive, got the job done in a professional manner.  Would definitely hire again.  The price was steep, but it was ultimately my own fault for trusting a 80 year old gate valve on a Saturday. <br />"

"We chose Matchless a few months ago after receiving three quotes to do an installation of a gas fireplace insert into our 1870 home. All three proposed the exact same insert model. We chose Matchless because they performed a detailed analysis to produce the quote and offered six month 0% financing. Matchless was not the least expensive quote we received ... we chose them because they offered professionalism AND a reasonable quote. We had numerous preparatory discussions with their engineer at the office (John) ... he was always available and returned calls promptly. John was a good indication of what was to come at installation time. The installers arrived at the promised date/time. In short, this installation (the marble fireplace) presented numerous difficulties (removing the existing glued-on and bolted cast iron insert INTACT, integrating both gas and electric in the basement and ensuring that the new insert fit well). The difficulties presented by this old home were no match for Shane. He faced each difficulty with absolute professionalism. The installation consumed the entire day. We closely watched the entire process as we were concerned about preserving the existing insert as well as preserving the marble fireplace - all went well. We could not be more satisfied with how Matchless performed for us. We called and thanked Bill, their General Manager and offered our gratitude to an excellent company."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Coxsackie, NY

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
