The microwave turned out to be an electrical issue but he explained the possible causes in an understandable way. "I've used Randy Lane a couple times in the past for minor leaks or clogs and was always happy with their work. I was a little disappointed by this latest experience and it was only for an estimate. I was more than a little annoyed that Brian showed up 45 minutes before his scheduled appointment time - especially since I still had another provider at the house providing an estimate. He spent less than 10 minutes looking at the plumbing, didn't take any measurements and spent more time writing up the estimate than he did looking at the existing plumbing. His estimate was more than a $1,000 over the other three estimates I received - perhaps if he'd spent more time asking me questions or reviewing the existing plumbing he would have been able to provide an estimate closer to the other three we got."

"I called them on a Sunday and said I didn't need an "emergency" appointment, but that I was trying to soak up a drip in the ceiling with fresh paper towels ever couple of hours and did they have an appointment soon? They said they could come over the next day. They gave me a 1PM to 3PM window on Monday, but not wanting to miss two hours of work in the middle of the day, I asked if they could call me at work (about five minutes away) when they were on their way over. They agreed, and I got the call at 2:20 the next day. I met the guy and showed him our drip. He told me we'd been trying to tighten the wrong thing, and showed me the packing nut to tighten, so we could do it ourselves next time. That was the whole repair, but after he made out the invoice and I signed it, he was nice enough to walk around the house with me and look at the outdoor plumbing I was concerned about and answer a couple of questions, free of charge. Not sure if I got the $30 Angies List discount or not. I mentioned it on the phone when I was scheduling it, but I didn't want to insist on a $30 discount on a $50 bill, so I didn't mention it again at the end. All in all, and very good experience."
