"The Groundworks folks (formerly Bay Area Underpinning) applied their foundation-underpinning technology and expertise to extend to bedrock, level, square up the foundation for an extensive house remodel. I was most impressed by the young man onsite supervisor, Josh who answered all my work done, how and why questions. I wish this info was provided up front by the estimator. (My design-build remodel contractor referred this company). "

"Outlets installed. Kevin was fantastic on second visit and even apologetic for making me feel bad the first time they came out. Christin is amazing and has been the definition of friendly even when I was a total jerk and misinformed. Rocky start, but luckily their electricians and office staff have been patient and understanding the whole time."

"We needed a cracked pipe replaced, which turned out to be a complex job. Travis of Goode Plumbing returned our call the same day, gave us an estimate quickly, and did the work promptly. No problems since then. Easy to work with, skilled, and trustworthy. It's kind of rare to find a contractor with this kind of work ethic and reliability."

"They are fabulous company. The way he works is that he gives you very expensive and the cheapest. Then he comes and discusses with you the pros and cons of everything. You then make the decision. The guy that owns it is Lamont Goldstein. He is a fabulous man. He is very kind and not pushy. The crew that works for him is super polite and when they come, they put booties on their feet like they do in a hospitals. When they put vents in and did heating ducts, I didn't have a spot of dirt left from them other than the dirt which was in here. Their work is perfect and I haven't had a minute's trouble. They installed the whole house attic fan too. They are not cheap but you always get what you pay for. I hit the wrong thing on the control and the fan wouldn't go off. I thought there was something wrong with the furnace. I called them, he came out and took one look at it then he said, "You have your fan on continuous, it is going to run day and night". He came out and fixed that without charging me. He could have charged me $75 for a home visit but he didn't. They do exceptionally clean work. They are very conscientious about the home owner. I am an older lady and he was very kind to me. He was patient and did't try to push me into anything. He provided me with all the information without pushing me one way or another. We made the decision, he ordered the furnace and brought the crane to put it up there. They had to go in through the attic and not a speck of dirt anywhere from them. They put tarps allover, wherever they worked. They were here for 3 or 4 days and I didn't hear any foul language from them at all."

"Evergreen is not the cheapest but you will have a system that works with minimum water use. Part of their business is redoing new systems installed by other contractors that do not work well. I was so happy with their work that I had them install a system at my dad's house so he did not have to drag hoses around trying to irrigate his very large yard. I don't time to describe the entire process here but I would suggest that if you are thinking about a new sprinkler system then call Bob Edwards and have him come out and talk to you. If you go with a cheaper system- Good luck! <br />"

"Anthony called to tell me he would be arriving late to begin working. He and his associate arrived at the revised time. They dug out a collection pit for the water and began the trenching that needed to go from one side of my home to the edge of my property next to the gutter. Anthony went to another job and returned to check on his helper's progress. He then removed and replaced the outside faucet and then the one in the garage. The next day they returned to put cement over the area they had to jack hammer out for the trench. Unfortunately it began to rain, so the job was finished on the next clear day."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Dos Palos, CA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
