"I was awaken this past Sunday morning by the sound of a broken fan destroying my Compressor unit. A blade had broken off and the remaining blades were spinning off balance, tearing out the core  and other parts of the Compressor unit. I knew I had a serious problem.
I had been less than satisfied with the folks who installed the system when my house was built, and was not sure who to call to get the current problem solved.  I had great concerns about locating a reputable  contractor to do the repairs having  read in the papers and seen on TV news many reports about senior citizens  (I'm 73) getting ripped off by disreputable contractor, so I turned to Angie's List.
I picked two  contractors, both with good evaluations and on Monday called  them for an evaluation and estimate.
I reviewed both assessments and estimates and decided to go with Ashworth Heating & Cooling. I received an estimate to repair the Compressor or replace the entire system.  Since the repair cast would be expensive, and I would still have a 14 year old system I decided to replace the entire system.
I was told they would be out to install the system the following day.  Sure enough Tuesday morning at 8:30AM, the Ashworth crew arrived to do the install.  They worked diligently and by early afternoon had completed the job and were showing me how to operate the new thermostat. I was very impressed !
So to all the folks at Ashworth Heating & Cooling, Scott, Michelle,Tyler, Jerry and his install crew, thanks for all your hard work and thanks for also providing my wife and I  a great system and a great deal  of peace of mind.

"Couldn't afford to pay for an AC system, and labor, so I contacted Tom Martin of MMG and he was kind enough to send 5 star rated Senior HVAC Technician Dennis Canterbury out to tell me everything needed to have a fully functional AC system, allow me to purchase my own parts and do my own labor and then have them come back out and hook it up. Now that's top notch service!!!! 5 out of 5? More like 10 out of 10!!! I'll quote you this "If you're in need of HVAC, plumbing or electrical services, residential or commercial, from a company you can trust to go out of their way to make sure that you're sitting pretty in hard times. THEN YOU NEED MMG.""

"The owner went above and beyond to come back a second day in the middle of his other jobs to finish fixing my problem. My AC unit needed to thaw out overnight, so it couldn't be fixed immediately. I really appreciate him making time to come by, check it was thawed, then inspect and fix the unit."

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Dunbar, WV

Coils work to absorb heat into the refrigerant that flows through them, moving heat from one location to another. For air conditioning, the evaporator coil inside the air handler in your home absorbs heat. It then transfers the heat outside to the condenser coil, where it releases it. The opposite process happens for heat pumps. When the coils get dusty and dirty, it reduces how well these components work.

Skip regular cleanings, and dirt, debris, and mineral deposits will blanket your evaporator and condenser coils. When that happens, the coils can’t shed heat efficiently, so the system works harder and your energy bill climbs. Over time, overheating strains the compressor and can trigger a full breakdown—an avoidable repair that often costs far more than a simple annual cleaning.

AC coil cleaning is an investment that pays for itself in the benefits it provides. Dust‑caked coils force your AC to run longer, so you spend more on electricity and rack up extra wear. A quick professional cleaning restores efficiency, trims monthly bills, and eases strain on expensive parts. Over the long haul, that small yearly fee delays pricy repairs and stretches the unit’s lifespan, making coil cleaning one of the smartest HVAC tune‑ups you can schedule.

Watch for higher electric bills, rooms that stay warm no matter how low you set the thermostat, or an AC system that runs nonstop. Extra humidity and frost on the coils are also red flags. Catching these clues early lets you schedule a quick cleaning before the system overworks itself and triggers an expensive breakdown.

Your AC cleaning technician starts by shutting off the power to the unit and removing the faceplate. Compressed air and a vacuum hose blast away loose debris, followed by a coil-safe, no-rinse cleaner that dissolves stubborn grime. After the solution has soaked in, the professional wipes the fins, reassembles the housing, and restores power, leaving the system ready to cool at peak efficiency.
