"Gas water heater stopped working on a Sunday and I couldn't get the pilot to re-light. I called R&S (who did work for me some years ago) first thing Monday morning. I figured I'd have to wait a few days before they could schedule someone, but they said they could make it out that morning. A friendly repairman showed up right on time with the part he figured likely to be faulty. Sure enough, maybe 40 minutes later, the heater was up and running again. No complaints to this point; super happy, in fact. Then I got the bill. So, I haven't hired a plumber/HVAC guy in a while, and maybe any of them would have charged this much, but I was kind of shocked. The part was $100, an hour of labor $140. I understand that businesses need to mark up parts and apply minimum labor charges to be profitable, but wow. The part retails for $40 or less online. And at that hourly rate, I wouldn't have minded a few extra minutes toward the full hour spent cleaning up the burner chamber (which still looks gritty). Overall, they accomplished what I asked, did it sooner than I'd hoped, and provided courteous, efficient service, but at a price that took me by surprise. Lesson learned: always ask for an estimate, at least just to calibrate expectations if not for shopping around. <br />"

"The HVAC company I had used for many years went out of business, so I decided to try Northern Heating.  I was a bit confused when they answered the phone as "Valley Mountain services", but they explained that the employees had taken over the business and were operating as Valley Mountain Services, but were still using the same technicians. <br /> The cleaning and inspection of both furnaces went as expected.  I told the technician that a CO detector at my house had gone off a month before, apparently a false alarm, but asked him specifically to check CO levels on each furnace.  He measured 0 ppm in the duct of both furnaces and noted that on the receipts.  Both furnaces have been running without problems since they were serviced (two months ago).  The thoroughness of the cleaning and inspection seemed comparable to the company I had been using - and the bill was $30 less per furnace than I had been paying. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Water heater was replaced on Friday morning and everything was fine. ?The technicians were respectful, efficient and personable. ?Saturday morning I discovered that the connecting pipe to the water heater had cracked shooting water everywhere and flooding my laundry room. ?I called and Mike took the call and on the phone talked me through shutting the water off. ?Within the hour he was at my house to assess what had happened and made the necessary repairs and I had a water heater back in just a few hours. ?Unfortunately the pilot went out and I wasn't able to restart it later in the day, I guess it was just too wet. ?I called back and explained the situation and to my delight and surprise rather than talk me through what to do Mike drove back out to my house to make sure the water heater pilot was lit. ?If you want excellent customer service you can not go wrong with this company. ?I will definitely use them in the future for any heating or plumbing issues. ?"

"I have Muscular Dystrophy and need special equipment.  Like stair climber, and "lift up" chair.  I got stuck in my lift up chair when power went out and I had to use the bathroom.  I had no way out of my chair without power..  Decided to get generator for the house that come on and operates automatically.   See review of Chinook Custom Services .  Mr. Luebke of Chinook Custom Services said that he need a plumber to hook up gas line.  He recommended Lee Van Ness of South Central Plumbing and Heating.  He hooked up gas line to generator.   2 days latter, maid found a leak under my kitchen sink. .  I called him and he was out and whole thing fixed within 48 hours of my call. He was in and out, got the parts that he needed and fixed all that needed to be fixed. <br /> <br />"
