"Hired CMS to paint walls in several rooms in my house including stairwell with high ceilings. The quote was at the low end of the range of quotes I received. They were willing to accommodate my schedule. project was completed ahead of schedule, under the quoted price. Jason was very easy to work with and had great customer service that exceeded my expectations.. Paint was done extremely well, and no spills on the stained trim and hardwood floors, nothing on the ceiling. He was very careful and didnâ t even leave a scratch. I am very satisfied with the job."

"Great from start to finish. Unlike some other bidders, there was no high-pressure salesmanship when we discussed the quote. There was some lag between signing the contract and starting the job but we were well informed ahead of time and project manager Jake Strank kept us in the loop about any schedule changes (there weren't many). The guys were above-and-beyond patient with kids and dogs hovering around the site. They finished the job when they said they would. The house looks beautiful. The quote originally sounded high but when I added it all up--2 or 3 guys per day x more than 2 weeks plus all the extras we wanted--it seemed more reasonable. Thanks Jake & crew! I hope you'll be available when I get around to replacing the rest of the windows and refinishing the porch."

"Computer was making grinding noises on start-up. Vertex ran tests and cleaned inside the box. Could not duplicate the problem. Did (and charged me for) exactly what they said they would do. Appreciated that there was no hard sell for new (unneeded) components or unnecessary work. An honest and straightforward interaction. Wish more vendors were like that. <br />"

"Bryan and Cheryl are great to work with ... one hears stories of shoddy work and rip off artists, but these two will recommend what can be done to fix at lowest cost instead of recommending new and expensive solutions.  And the finished work is done well and looks fantastic!  I highly recommend Bryan and Cheryl for anyone needing a home repair or remodeling project ... and you'll need patience because they are in high demand - if you are in a hurry then you'll probably need someone who is not busy and most likely not that good, and they'll charge you a lot.  Bryan is a perfectionist and will keep at a problem area until it is resolved - for instance sun faded siding looked splotchy after power washing, Bryan went up on the ladder and chemically removed the splotches, now it looks brand new."

"They were very professional and courteous. They have been in business for 30 years so we were very comfortable with that. He ordered the glass and installed it once it came in. I would use him again in a heartbeat."

"I have been going to this hardware store for about 30 years.  They have all the parts I need so I only need to make one stop.  This is unlike a local big box store that always seems to be missing one or two items (probably ones that don't have a high enough turn over rate).  Relative to other small hardware stores, their prices are quite good.  They can't compete on price with the likes of Home Depot, but it is WAY easier to go in, get what you need, and go back to work.  If you need help there is always someone available.  I often am looking for parts for some odd project or other where I buy things for purposes other  than intended.  They are always helpful, even interested in what I'm doing.  A great place.  Worth supporting with our business."

"I think they do glass windows.  They are a big company.  They did a great job.  They were on time.  They did what they said they were going to do.  I would tell people that it's a good company.  They were friendly.  What they said is what they did.  They said that it was going to take a while to get the window in and once it came in, I had it.  They were a little costly, but I guess anybody else would have charged us about the same."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in East Lansing, MI

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
