"The category is not there that I need to select from, it was a sliding patio glass door that had shattered but didnâ Â Â t fall out. Long story short after he measured, sent me an estimate; we kept in touch when it would be in; we connected with a date to install; he was very professional, cleaned up behind himself. I will recommend him to anyone that has a sliding glass door or a window issue that is his specialty very reasonable on price. There was no rush to get it done on my part he kept me abreast because of the pandemic, things were backed up. I was fine with that. Thank you Mr. Cooper"

Customers say: True professional

"My experience has exceeded my expectations. After a prompt response to my bid for a project, Noel reviewed the needs and started the next morning. He provided great counsel, solutions and completed the project in one day. We also had a faulty front door handle that he fixed without us asking. I would highly recommend FAMB Construction and we look forward to working with them again. - D. Smith, Bowie,MD."

"At first glance everything looks good. All the workers were nice.
These are the problems:
  • During the job I noticed a window sill did not look sanded properly. I.E. they painted over the peeled paint though they said they sanded it. I believe they did sand it...just not enough. The chipped old paint was still visible. When I called it to the attention of one of the painters he sanded it down but did not address the same problem on the adjoining sill.
  • Edges were irregular so after the job was over someone came back to repaint around some molding and the radiators to make edges straight.
  • A couple weeks later I had to pull the refrigerator out and noticed that one wall got only one coat of paint. Original paint was showing through. Had I not pulled out the refrigerator I never would have known. A painter came back a second time to fix that and paint under the soffit which had been missed.
  • I am currently putting up shades and have noticed that the tops of the windows and door jams were not painted at all. We're I not installing the shades I wouldn't have known it. I also noticed a large drip under the breakfast bar.
  • I continue to find paint splatter and drops on the floors and rug though to be fair, the painter who came the second or third time offered to wander around and clean up the drops on the floor. I didn't have time for it and I didn't think it was as extensive as I have since discovered.
  • Tape was only used when one of the painters came back to paint a tricky area but it would have helped to have used it in the first place.

3/17/16 update: I continued to find paint drips everywhere. Additionally sills were not prepared properly so paint looks lousy there.

3/25/16 update: The owner called after I posted with the update and offered to remedy the situation and asked if I needed a room painted or if there was something else he could do. I was not at home so couldn't discuss it so he said he would call on the weekend. He never did.  One statement in the provider response is misleading. "...given the poor original condition of some surfaces..." is misleading. There was no difference in quality of similar surfaces; it was not extreme and if it were that bad I would have expected that at the outset additional costs would have been included in the estimate to repair it correctly. But the condition of the surfaces didn't warrant it. Moving on..."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Elkridge, MD

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
