"Steve was easy to work with and they did an outstanding job installing the Radon Remediation system. Quick response with outstanding service. I highly recommend them. Radon levels were 4.6 before the install and .5 after the install."

"I called Atlantic Radon to see if they could replace a radon fan. Tommy called me back immediately. He sent Zack out on Monday to see what the problem was. On Tuesday Tommy and Zack came out to move and replace the old radon fan from the basement to the attic. Once they removed the fan, they discovered my sump pump needed to be replaced too. Tommy explained the process for both issues. They did not have a sump pump on the truck so they completed the job with the radon fan and scheduled another date for the sump pump. Tommy and Zack were professional, polite, arrived on time and answered all of my questions. I scheduled the sump pump repair and all went well. Now I have piece of mind knowing I am in a safe home. I would highly recommend Atlantic Radon! The price was very reasonable."

"The categories above didnt fit. Radon Resolvers installed a radon mitigation system. It includes a fan system through the garage to reduce radon in the house. They did a great job of installation. Their price was considerably less than the other quote I received."

"I have zero complaints about our tech, Jack. He was thorough and communicative! We have a system installed through the roof and he was able to paint the exhaust pipe to match the shingles. The front office wasn't as great. We had to schedule a follow up visit because the initial install wasn't going to work. Unfortunately they never put me on the schedule the second time. So my install day came and went but we didn't hear anything from Swat. I calle the next day and no one knew what I was talking about. Our account manager (Brian) was very apologetic and offered to take some money off our install because of the confusion and the fact that there were no available appointments until August 11th. Luckily they were able to add me to the top of their cancellation list, so we ended up with a system just 3 days later. I appreciate their willingness to make it right with me. I would reccommend them to others looking to have a radon abatement system installed."

"Instead of finding a way to obtain business the plumber told me exactly what was needed. He also helped me to understand the problem and what I needed to do to find the right company for the job. He wrote up on the ticket notes that was helpful for me moving forward. Very honest and forthright. I can't attest to their work because they did not perform any job but I would trust them to do something for me."

"A two-man team worked very efficiently to remove each vent cover and vacuum inside the vent openings throughout the townhouse. One man removed the vent covers while the other man vacuumed inside the vent openings. No problems with how they worked but I think there are other companies who perform a more thorough cleaning of ductwork using other methods. This company did a superficial cleaning and worked very quickly. In and out within an hour.

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Ellicott City, MD

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
