"Not well. Here is a letter I sent after the work was completed followed by their reply. As you will see, they did refund to cost of the unnecessary part and installation with an apology. This, however, should never have happened. 10/5/2016 To Management: I am writing with regards to a breach in the honesty and integrity of your company and its technicians. My wife and I are deeply troubled about this, especially because we found you on Angie’s List and, thereby assumed that we had hired a highly reputable contractor to install our water heater. As is evident on the invoice, attached, the installation occurred on Monday, October 3, 2016, at our residence. To be specific, you technician waited until the end of the installation to inform us that our water pressure was too high and if left at 90 psi, the manufacturer’s warrantee on the unit would be void, and that we would need a pressure regulator valve to keep the warrantee. Upon questioning, he stated that while 90 psi was not particularly dangerous, the water pressure goes up at night and that was why we need the pressure regulator. Further, he explained that he could have measured the pressure on the old heater and told us up front but that he was “by the office” to wait until the end of the installation to reveal such information to customers, presumably to scare them into agreeing to purchasing the regulator. While we find the practice of waiting until the end of the installation to tell customers like ourselves that an expensive part was now needed in order to maintain the warrantee to be highly unethical in itself, we are especially aggrieved to learn that we were lied to on two counts. I called the manufacturer, Rheem, who’s representative, after I explained the incident as I describe it herein, informed me that no such stipulation exists and that as long as a water heater expansion tank was installed (it was) and that it was properly set (we hope so), the warrantee would be in force. The representative advised me to call another plumber who works in Salt Lake City to double check on details, and so I did. He was duly appalled and further informed me of the second lie. Contrary to the statement made by your technician, in fact, the city turns down the water pressure at night. Yesterday, I received a message from Angie’s List, asking for my evaluation of the installation and your company. Before I reply to it, I would like to give you the opportunity to apologize and give us a full refund on the cost of the pressure regulator and its installation. We look forward to your speedy reply. Sincerely, ___________________ 10/11/2016 Mr. xxxxx This is to notify you that your refund of $340 was credited back to your Visa card ending in 1229. Attached, please find a copy of your credit receipt. We apologize that you were not 100% satisfied with our company and hope that in the future that you will give us another chance to prove that we strive for 110% customer satisfaction at all times. We appreciate your contacting our office. The information in your email has been given to our Service Manager for training purposes. "AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"I own a flower shop in South Jordan, and my water heater broke and leaked all weekend. Jeff with Pond's came in and looked at it on Monday, gave me a quote, and had it fixed by Thursday. Having warm water is important for my business, and even though I knew they were so busy, he made the repair happen as quickly as possible. He was honest about cost, my options, and timing. I would highly recommend Pond's Plumbing!
