"9/16/16 Signed contract to replace a bow window with 3 double-hung windows. 9/26/16 Technician takes inside/outside measurements. 11/9/16 Installers arrive. Job not completed due to defective/missing components. Installer and I reviewed work completed, I signed Zero Defect Form with installer notes, paid balance due, holding back 10% for work not completed. 11/10/16 Call from Rich Cavanaugh, CRM. I am disappointed project not completed. He said I would hear from Service in about 2 weeks. 12/1/2016 I called Service, left message, no call back. 12/2/2016 I called Service. Told me I should get a call next week to schedule. 1/3/17 I called Service and was told everything in. Will call back with date. 1/4/17 Call from Service with date. 1/16/17 Service tech arrives without all components to complete job. After a couple of phone calls and much discussion he goes to local lumber yard and buys what he needs to complete exterior work and installs it. Interior work must be delayed until a window sash is ordered. 1/16/17 I call Rich. I am disgusted. Why was I told all components were in? 1/17/17 Call from Rich. Window sash has been ordered. I will get a call from service when it is in. 1/20/17 Call from Service. Sash will be in on 2/3/17. Completion date set. 2/8/17 service tech arrives to install sash and replace damaged interior molding. All work completed, but just as tech is leaving the glass in the newly-installed window sash cracks. A new sash will need to be ordered. And so the saga continues. My comment is this: The windows are well-made, energy-efficient, and beautiful. The installers and service technicians are professional, skilled craftsmen and do excellent work. Service administration and scheduling is inefficient and unacceptable. Installation of 3 windows should not take three months! On a positive note, the 10% I held back was waived as compensation for my inconvenience. Not holding my breath for the new sash."

"Overall we were extremely happy with the result. They went above and beyond in all aspects. We worked with John in ordering the windows, and he went through all the details numerous times to ensure we got what we wanted. He even met us at the showroom on a Saturday to fit with our schedule. The windows turned out great- and for a fraction of the price another company quoted in the Boston area. Highly recommend United Better Homes and hope to use them again for a roof or new doors."

"Highly recommend.  While I never met them, they were professional from start to finish.  Due to my crazy work schedule, they came while I was at work and assured me it would be trusted family members only.  The work was great, all my windows are spotless and they even did the glass panels on both exterior doors.  I had no problems, and they were always good about returning phone calls.  Also I felt the price was very reasonable. <br />"

"The installer was very prompt, arriving a few minutes before the window of time started. The installation was done well. However, about an hour after it was finished, I drove the car and noticed a small crack on the inside of the windshield on the passenger side. I call the the office, and the owner was very surprised, and said that of course they would replace it, but asked if I would stop by the shop to show him exactly where the crack was. I did, and he was very nice about the whole thing. We made another appointment for about a week later, and the replacement was done on time and professionally. The reason for the crack seemed to be either the extreme heat and humidity of the day, or a problem unloading the windshield glass prior to installation. This company was great to deal with and I recommend them highly. <br />"

"We recommend, without hesitation, Tom Lopatosky and all of those from LOPCO Contracting who worked on the transformative exterior revival of our recently purchased East Side home. When determining which contractor to go with, there were three things integral to our choice - ease, quality and value. As the job required not only paint, but also moderate carpentry work and a new seamless gutter system; we frankly did not want to be coordinating with two or three contractors' schedules, etc. LOPCO Contracting addressed all items for the house, making the process so much easier. The balance between quality and value can be quantified in many ways, especially when quotes vary so wildly. Quite simply, we felt as though the job was worth every dollar spent - and we're both quite particular. And while not something we initially considered, we felt it worth mentioning that all those who we worked with are great guys - a sentiment also shared by our 22-month-old daughter (the greatest of all tests). In summation, LOPCO Contracting was everything one could ask for - competent, consultative, thorough and trustworthy."

"The installation went great! They came by a few times earlier to make sure they had the right measurements for the order and installation needs. The window looks great and is very well insulated. The only reason I gave them a B is because it took a while just to get a sales person to come to my house ( and I live in the same town!). The salesman kept missing appointments and didn't call, I had to call to find out what happened then he had to reschedule multiple times. Once the order was in it was a A+ experience."

FAQs for new windows service projects in Exeter, RI

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
