"I hired Steve to install a hot water heater. He made many promises that he would install it but never showed up at the time he said he would. Very unreliable and very unprofessional."

"LP came to service my water system on 4/4/2023. The service tech indicated I had a possible issue with my sump pump as he poured water and sediment from changing my cartridge/filter into the sump pump. He asked if I wanted an LP plumber to come out and to see what the issue was. I agreed. Plumbers came. 20-minutes later they left my home and I received an electronic invoice for $550.00. They never told me what was wrong. They did not provide an estimate to replace. They did not request a signature to accept the estimate and okay to perform the work. They did not request a signature for me accepting the work that was supposedly performed. When I opened the electronic invoice, my name had been forged in 2 areas. The invoice did not list what brand/manufacturer of sump pump was installed. The invoice did not have a price for the labor. There was a $100 deduction but no reason provided. When I called LP, a was switched over to a representative. She stated they could not provide the sump pump information I requested. No reason as to why. But wanted to know if I wanted to pay my bill. I did pay, but thought more about it and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. My request was simple: provide a new invoice with the manufacturer of the sump pump. It would be a good thing to have in the event the supposed NEW sump pump failed. Odd that another well known contractor who replaced this years ago, gave me their invoice with the name and manufacturer and brand name/model of the sump pump that was determined defective by LP. I still have that receipt but odd that LP, supposedly a professional company, literally refused to provide the information that I requested. LP did reach out but I did not take the call on my cell and was out the next day when they called a landline. Their rep replied was everything looked reasonable but they, LP, NEVER, and STILL HAS NOT provided the information I requested. The name of the new sump, model number, etc. that I would need should the unit fail after LP had performed the work. If the unit failed, how would I ever be able to call the maker, e.g., Kohler, and see if they would honor a warranty if it did fail. How hard would it have been for LP to honor this request? Because I, a senior citizen did not contact LP by phone, the BBB closed the complaint. Instead of requesting that LP provide the required information, they closed the complaint. Makes one feel like they were totally scammed and the reason they didn't know or want to provide the information is that didn't actually perform the work. Another senior - SCAMMED."

"?????⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I called in LATE on a FRIDAY afternoon. APRIL enthusiastically answered, FIRST ring, & I explained the awful noise from my sump pump. She got me on the next day's schedule. Saturday! I gave her the specs of the unit & she calmly took notes for the technician. Jimmy texted on his way, arrived timely & had all the necessary parts stocked in the truck! He completed the changeout in record time & accepted credit card payment. The entire process couldn't have went any smoother! The new Zoeller unit runs so quiet, I don't hear it at all in the house. After seeing the shooting plume of water, I informed Craig the SM & his followup exceeded my expectations. Great team to work with; excellent service, fair price! Ten Stars!"

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"If you’re considering 58 Foundations, do yourself a favor and stop right now. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this company to anyone—let alone friends or family. Their complete disregard for accountability is nothing short of infuriating. At first, things appeared to go smoothly. The workers were professional, and the workmanship seemed decent. But the illusion of competence quickly disintegrated when it came time for the building inspection. The city inspector requires a letter from the project engineer verifying that the work is safe, sound, and compliant with code. 58 Foundations flat-out refuses to provide this basic validation of their work. Why won’t they stand behind their project? Are they hiding shoddy, substandard work? As a homeowner, I’m now saddled with the mess of an open permit and no resolution in sight. This is unacceptable. If a company won’t back their work with a simple letter, what does that say about their integrity—or lack thereof? Didn't expect this kind of run around from a well established professional firm, save yourself the frustration and inevitable regret. Choose a company that honors their commitments and respects their customers. Once upon a time, 58 Foundations may have been reputable, but their crumbling standards are now painfully obvious. Don’t let their negligence become your problem."

"It’s not often that a reviewer praises a contractor for what he DIDN’T do. Austin Ireland, the owner and operator of Drytek, didn’t propose spending several thousand dollars on encapsulating my wet crawl space. He said that in my case encapsulation might not be cost effective. You see, my 50 year-old home’s foundation consists of 8”x 8” wood posts, with the foundation’s perimeter enclosed by 1”x 6” boards, slatted to allow for ventilation. The layout of my irregular crawl space posed other installation problems as well. Among other things, insulation panels would need to be installed to form walls in addition to the vapor barrier and a large dehumidifier. Four contractors/salespersons preceded Drytek’s Austin Ireland. One simply said there’s nothing that can be done. Another proposed encapsulating the crawl space from the OUTSIDE, but thankfully never followed up. Another did an evaluation, but never returned my calls. Dryzone wanted $8,500 but offered a pressure tactic $425 discount if I signed a vague contract the same day the salesman came. Later the salesperson said the installation of insulation boards would raise the cost significantly. The salesperson at Dryzone also said he would call back with details, but didn’t. Drytek’s Austin Ireland, on the other hand, took more time than any of the others to carefully examine my crawl space. I crawled with him as he pointed out the condition of my crawl space and the challenges of encapsulation. By this time, my own research had better prepared me to better evaluate proposals. I found him to be knowledgeable, straightforward and honest. I was a highly motivated prospective customer. Last year a HVAC system had been installed with the air handler, electronics, and ductwork in my crawl space. The moisture in the crawl space last summer was degrading the new system. So what did Austin Ireland of Drytek propose? Four centrifugal snail fans joined together by extension cords, placed strategically in the crawl space. These are not exhaust fans to ventilate, but rather air movers like you may have seen in public bathrooms to dry floors. He even showed me what to do, and wouldn’t take any payment for his visit. After investing $400 the next day at Home Depot , I located the fans, connected the extension cords to the receptacles in the fans and waited for the heat and humidity to test Austin Ireland’s theory. It is now six weeks later and we have had three prolonged periods of hot, humid weather during which I have activated the fans. THE CRAWL SPACE HAS STAYED AS DRY AS A BONE. Amazing! The vast majority of wet crawl spaces need to be encapsulated; mine did not. But it took a trustworthy expert whose ethics mattered more than profit to present the best solution for me. Austin Ireland, owner and operator of Drytek, is that person."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Federalsburg, MD

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
