"Five Stars for Flawless Driveway Transformation! I cannot recommend Drive Paving and Sealcoating highly enough for anyone in need of driveway paving or sealing services in New Jersey. From start to finish, this crew provided truly outstanding workmanship and customer service. Initially, I requested quotes from several local paving companies. Drive Paving impressed me with their prompt response, detailed proposal, and competitive pricing. Sam Petty, the owner, came to my home to assess the driveway and explain all of the options. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient with my questions, and honest about setting realistic expectations. On the scheduled day, the crew arrived right on time ready to get to work. I was amazed by their skill and efficiency throughout the entire process. They took great care in my properly preparing the surface and laying the asphalt with incredible precision. The result is a driveway that looks brand new - smooth, level, and with crisp edging. Just as importantly, the Drive team went above and beyond in terms of clean-up. They fully cleared away any debris and left my property looking pristine. Customer satisfaction is clearly a top priority. Months later, my driveway still looks phenomenal thanks to the quality sealing applied by Sam and Drive. I've gotten so many compliments from neighbors! If you value professionalism, attention to detail, and a job well done, look no further than Drive Paving and Sealcoating. They transformed my old, cracked driveway into a stunning new surface I can enjoy for many years. This outstanding local business has my highest recommendation for driveway paving and sealing services."

"They were total professional. The people working in my house did a wonderful job. The whole job was more involved than expected but was handled with ease. My whole house interior was patched, sanded and beautifully painted. Lights were installed and curtain rods and huge paintings were hung. Just amazing!"

"It went very well. It was a pleasure to work with the owners, Carlos & Paola, as well as the workers who worked diligently for long hours. The driveway was ripped up and installed in one day and their work was impeccable. My husband actually inspects municipal paving jobs as part of his job so he more or less was able to observe their work. They did everything correctly and we are very pleased with the results. The Belgian block paving was done on a separate day as we added that on to the work order a day or two later. The curbing looks great and greatly improved the curb appeal of our home. We had the work done in April of 2019. We highly recommend Mata Paving & More and we also found their pricing to be quite affordable."

"Had used another company previously but was looking to change to another company. Found SealPro on this site, and after reading some reviews and checking their site I called and asked a few follow up questions. Satisfied with the answers I retained SealPro. There price was competitive with what I previously paid, but I can't say if the price was high, low or just right since I didn't get other estimates. Had to wait a while for them to schedule me, and that happened only when I called to inquire as to when they might be coming. I was told that due to the amount of rain they were a bit backed up (reasonable answer) and they could actually schedule me in a couple of days. They showed up on time, worked quickly and cleanly, and the driveway looks as good as one could hope for given what sealing does. The few questions I had when they were on site were answered well, and I felt very comfortable with my choice. Just have to manage your expectations because there were a few imperfections and I actually consulted someone I know out of state who explained to me what causes those imperfections, in that sealing is not a resurfacing and imperfections that were there previously sometimes become more noticeable with a fresh application of sealant."

"Brett had 3 other young men with him and worked for 6 hours. They spread 15 yards of mulch, edged about 200 feet where turf meets beds, ,  plug aerated both back and front yards which is well over 10,00 square feet, tidied up  20x 5 feet of Forsythia, cut down last years perennials in a 800 sq. ft. bed,  cleaned beds, cut ornamental grasses down to proper height , they took their time and they never rushed to be done, nor did they take long breaks. <br />         All work was done as if the guys were working on their own homes. They respected the plants coming up and worked so not to trample or disturb them  AND, they did not volcano mulch around the stand of Rose of Sharon and  Crepe Myrtel. It was all spread evenly.  I had an afterthought  and needed a large thick, tall bush drastically trimmed and they did it along with some other shrubs needing trimming.   <br />    Brett and his crew have a great work ethic, are personable, polite and very easy to get work with. I am going to hire them again in June to put a 75ft walkway, river stone and plant some type of flowering cherry.  <br />    Lastly, what immediately separated Emerald Green from a lot of other Angie LIsters, especially handymen, was that  Brett CALLED ME  right back, actually SHOWED up to to price the job and sent an estimate in email very quickly.  <br />    If I say anymore good things about Emerald Green you folks will think I am part owner or a relative. I am NOT. I found them on Angies LIst. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Flemington, NJ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
