"It went well. When the excavator was working, I didn't really understand when he asked if we wanted to "feather" the uneven ground around the pool- so now we have a lot of ground without the grass that was there because the feathering was put over top of the grass - killing it. Overall, I would recommend C&D's. They were very responsive every step."

"This is the second time that Dig M Pools did and installation for us. Again we were very happy with the job they did. We purchased our pool from them and it is a well made product. The owners wife was very helpful when we were deciding what pool to purchase. I would recommend Dig M Pools as first choice. Excellent job. Thanks Dig M."

"Bob initially provided us an estimate in March 2014.  He advised that they were busy lining up jobs after the bad winter, and it may be a few months before they got to us.  This was fine, and what we were expecting.  His estimate was somewhat higher than others we received, but he seemed very knowledgeable and honest, so we decided to go with his company for peace of mind.  ASCM called the week before they came out, demo-ed and framed on June 16, and poured and stamped the morning of June 17.  The entire job took about 1.5 days.  On June 16th, while they were doing demo, my husband asked if they could also do a small pad for our two trash cans, and how much it would cost.  Bob said that if my husband didn't mind buying water for his workers (it was a hot week), they would use the extra concrete they mixed and do it for no extra charge.  We thought that was really nice of him (for us, and his workers!), and raised my opinion of the company even more - if they had extra concrete, rather than waste it they would rather do something nice for the customer with it. Great attitude and customer service.
I would have liked if they had cleaned up a little better - there was a lot of dirt and stones on our driveway from the roll-off dumpster (demo), wads of dug-up sod and stones on our lawn, and roots and debris from some bushes that had to be removed.  However, this wasn't in the contract, so I was okay with it.
The day after the job was finished, I noticed that two spots on the sidewalk - one on the edge about 3 inches x 12 inches, and one at the foot of the step that was the entire width of the sidewalk and 12 inches deep - were darker than the other areas of the sidewalk and were not the same texture as the rest of the sidewalk.  We called Bob and he came out the next afternoon to look at it.  He explained that had happened when the workers were picking up the frames, where the wood had scraped against the walkway.  It had been re-troweled and re-stamped, which was why it was darker, but that it would probably dry in a couple of weeks and blend in to the rest of the sidewalk.  If we still weren't happy with it, he said the only other choice would be to seal it with a tinted sealer to try and even the colors out.  We hadn't wanted to seal it because we were concerned that would make it slippery and a safety issue. He offered to split the cost of sealing it ($300 or $150/$150) with us if we weren't happy with the job after a few weeks.
Two weeks later, we met again, and the spots still looked rough and darker than the rest of the sidewalk.  Bob explained that if we took a piece of stone/slate and rubbed it against the surfaces like that, they would smooth out and blend in better.  He spent about 20 minutes doing this to areas he noticed and it looked a lot better.
We still haven't decided if we want to seal it, but Bob offered to give us instructions on how to do this ourselves if we decide to do it later this summer.
I think when choosing a contractor, it's important to know what they will do if something goes wrong.  I was satisfied with how responsive Bob was to our concerns and his willingness to come out multiple times and address them.

FAQs for swimming pool cleaning and maintenance service projects in Forest Hill, MD

Removing an above-ground pool takes about a week, similar to the installation timeframe. The exact duration depends on your pool's size, complexity, and any additional structures like decks that need dismantling. Weather conditions, site accessibility, and the contractor's schedule can also affect timing. Simple removals without complications might be completed more quickly, while projects with extensive decking or difficult access may require additional days.

After pool removal, the ground beneath will likely be compacted and may have uneven spots. Most homeowners choose to have the area graded and prepared for new use. You can install fresh grass, create garden beds, or develop a patio space. The soil might need amendments to support healthy plant growth since it has been covered and compressed. Many professionals recommend waiting a few months before making permanent installations to allow the soil to settle naturally.

Above-ground pools are considered temporary structures rather than permanent property improvements, so removing one has minimal impact on property taxes. In most jurisdictions, these pools aren't factored into property value assessments the way in-ground pools might be. However, tax regulations vary by location, so it's worth contacting your local tax assessor's office for clarification about your specific situation before proceeding with removal.

The reclaimed space offers numerous possibilities for enhancing your outdoor living area. Popular options include creating a patio or deck, establishing a garden or play area, installing a fire pit, or simply expanding your lawn. Consider how you use your yard and what features would provide the most enjoyment for your household. Many homeowners find it beneficial to live with the space for a season before making permanent changes, allowing time to observe sunlight patterns and natural drainage across the area.
