"Looks MUCH better. The only disappointment is that the filling of the large cracks can be seen through the seal coating. It reminds me of the first coat of paint on a new wall and the taping and spackling still shows through."

"The finished product was so beautiful. Couldn't believe it was the same sidewalk! Jimmy from Knockout Masonry is so professional and efficient. This is the second time I used Knockout for sidewalk replacement. He is efficient and is there when he says he will be. Great communication. No hassles. No problems. I will always use them!"

"A back water valve was installed in my basement. A & A Innovative was hired to install valve cover, fill in the opening with gravel and concrete, cover the hole with concrete and level off with floor. The procedure was explained in professional and layman's terms, I was able to take photos as the work proceeded, the worker was on time. Area left clean. The price was very reasonable."

"Fixaroof removed all my shingles and flatroof material down to the rafters because I had wooden shake shingles. They installed new plywood, new gaf shingles, weather watch, cobra ridge vents and what sold me on this job, gaf hip and ridge. There contract clearly stated that they would install the gaf hip and ridge. No one else's contract stated that after the roof removal they would be installing these or any hips for that matter. They did an absolute great job, my roof looks beautiful. I was so happy that I chose fixaroof to do my roof removal or roof rip as they called it, as to my previous run ins with roofers in the past was a nightmare, but James made it so pleasurable that I was shocked that there are still great roofing mechanics out there! I am calling my brother to recommend that they do his flat roof and I will recommend them to all my friends. Great job Fixaroof. Thank you for being honest!!!!"

"There was a chimney leak in or apartment and the entire apt was covered in soot and smoke. The problem was so bad we moved out. Once the chimney was repaired. We called Steven from SHS based on his great ratings on Angie's list. They came in on Monday cleaned up all the soot & smoke damage. Then began the process of priming and painting. The apartment was painted to perfection for a very low price. The floors were striped, sanded sealed in polyurethane, our apartment has never looked better. Steven helped with great designs for the apartment, the wallpaper and paints. We are so pleased with the finished product, the price, and mostly the high level of service Steven and his crew provided for us. We are back in our apartment & are loving it!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Forest Hills, NY

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
