"The pedestal sink in my bathroom had developed a number of deep cracks, so it needed to be replaced. I called Perry Plumbing and asked if they could replace the sink. They said that I should go and purchase a sink that I wanted, and they would install it. I went to the local big box store (the one where the workers wear orange aprons) and found a sink and pedestal that was similar to the one that I already had. Near the sinks was a sign indicating that installation of the sinks and quot;started at $200.00and quot; I then asked one of the clerks if that would be the price for installing the pedestal sink. The clerk checked his notebook and said that the price for the installation of pedestal sinks was $290.00. There would be an additional charge if they had to bring the sink to my home. <br /> Once I purchased the sink and pedestal and brought them home, I contacted Perry Plumbing to arrange for installation. Randy came out and in short order disconnected the old sink. He said that the new sink would fit on the old pedestal, so I was happy to hear that I could return the new pedestal. He took the time to make sure that the sink and pedestal were installed properly. He also fixed a supply line that had a slight leak. He did a quality job and I got the sense that there was no cutting corners. I was quite pleased with the work that was done, and I will definitely contact Perry Plumbing if I have other plumbing needs. <br /> <br />"

"I need to stay on top of them because they also use sub contractors. It is the nature of subcontractors to do what they always do and it doesn't matter what the homeowner says. I had them do some rain gutter work, and they used a contractor that they said was the best in the area. It didn’t look that way to me. I had them come back, and I had him come back. I’m still not happy. The next time I’ll talk with Northern, I’ll say don’t use this guy and find somebody else. I talked to a guy there named Larry. I told him that I was looking for somebody that could be my outside go to person. I told him I have high standards and I expect response from them. We talked about that and I said that otherwise I would smear them everywhere online. We sort of worked out our relationship, and they are still my go to but I stay on top of them. They put in some windows on the second floor, and they did an extremely good job with that. I had rebuilt one of the rooms on the second floor and put in on my own trimming and all the internal and external framing. You couldn’t even tell all the windows have been touched. They didn’t mess up anything. They were very thorough. The same group of subcontractors came back to put a double entry door into the garage. Usually I hang around when the contractors are working. The guy asked me before they put the door in. I said that it’s not an inward opening door. They began to load all their stuff from their truck and packing it back up and put the frame in. They went back to their office. The office called and reordered. They eventually got it in. They did have a glitch in there. What I like about Larry, who’s my contact guy there, came out and said that they always have to order twice from suppliers. The first is to get it wrong and second is to get it right. It was my mistake because I did not specify the style of the door. It cost them more to come out twice but they did not change the estimate at all. If I go directly to a subcontractor, it’s going to be cheaper automatically because there’s no cut for the middleman. On the other hand, if I go to Northern and something screwed up much more likely they will have it corrected and take care of it than if I’m doing it with the subcontractors. It’s all worth a little bit of extra money because you have more fallback if something goes wrong and some things can always go wrong."
