"From the initial estimate through installation, A-BEST was courteous and professional. The gentleman who came out for our consultation estimated that two sills would need to be replaced, and he built this into the quote. He was exactly right, and we didn't pay a penny more than we had been quoted - given the state of the windows, I half expected unforeseen work, so this was a very positive experience! The installers took only half a day to do all the work and cleaned up after themselves. My windows have been installed for three months now and I can already tell that they are keeping in the heat and are as energy efficient as boasted."

"The technician determined that the shade was in dire need of replacement but buying a new one was out of the question. He repaired missing fasteners and didn't feel he could warranty the work and therefore did not charge. He was there for about 30 minutes and we were so impressed with him and Exciting Windows! by Verticals that we would recommend them to everyone we know."

"Willie and his crew were outstanding from start to finish. I initially called him because of the wonderful Angie's list reviews I saw and they are absolutely correct. We waited about a week to have Willie come to the house to do an estimate because I was so so impressed with what I saw in the reviews. The wait was well worth waiting for. Willie Quinn was totally straightforward and helpful throughout the estimation process. The estimate he gave us was not the lowest or the highest -- it was the best. We were so pleased to be able to do business with Paradigm Windows which is a local Portland Maine company. Willie brought samples of the windows, did a great job of presenting the windows using them. He recommended that we go to Paradigm Windows in Portland ME to speak with their representative and see the operation there, which we did and it was very impressive. Willie has been totally responsive with answers to every question we've asked him. The windows we ordered were installed at least a week ahead of schedule and we are thrilled. with the result. His team of two which is obviously one of a number of teams they have arrived on time at 8:15 this morning. His Dad Dennis, who started the company went over everything the two man crew needed to know. Willie had already told us that his crews have been with him for a lot of years The two guys who did our window work were outstanding -- very easy to have in our house, helpful and just excellent workmen. They did a terrific job with the windows, some of which required a lot of work because our window openings were not totally on square. I would highly recommend Quinn's installations for windows and since they also do siding and roofing I am sure they are as good at that."

"The 8th Maine Regimental Association highly recommends Casco Bay Roofing for all your roofing needs. They did our Historic 14 bedroom building on Peaks Island for us in 2019. Owner Mike Norris quoted us a fair market price and finished our job on time with exceptional workmanship. His crew were courteous and neat while working in a safe and productive pace. This year (2020) we had their carpentry division reconstruct our wooden 2 story fire escape, seaside deck and tower stairway. The craftsmanship was impeccable. We highly recommend this top notch group of professionals for all your construction projects. 5 Stars for sure"

"Shawn Robertson came to my home today and measured all of the windows that are going to be replaced. He explained everything that he needed to do today and when he began he was very respectful of the people and pets in my house. He was knowledgeable regarding the process and after completing his measurements he explained everything to me in a way that left me with no questions regarding the next process."

"<p>I am a 88 years old widowed woman. I live on a very limited income of social security and a small pension my husband left when he died in March 2013. In May 2013 my hot water tank wouldn't work any longer. I was almost broke due to the funeral cost of burying my husband. I called 6 local plumbers (Crouch Sons Plumbing, Hearn Plumbing Company, Hoyt Lane & Sons Plumbing, Fuller Plumbing, Beck Boys Plumbing and Shoals MPE) hoping one would take the $386,00 that I could afford to pay and replace my hot water tank. Everyone of them gave me a bid of 650 to over a 1000 dollars to replace it. I explained to each one how much I had and why and each one said they just couldn't help me. I went May 2013 thru December 2013  without hot water, I took sponge baths over my sink after I warmed water on my stove.</p> <p>At Church one Sunday I asked someone if they knew anyone that did hot water tank work, and I was given a card of Sweet Home Repairs. I called them and Eric and Rodger came to my home and after I explained  my situation they left for Lowes and returned about a hour later with a hot water tank and installed it. I offered to pay them the 700 dollars I had saved to replace it but Mr. Denton and his worker Rodger refused the payment. I insisted and again they refused but said they would except a bowl of spaghetti and meat balls that I was cooking for dinner guest I was having over that night. I gladly paid them. They thank me for lunch and away they left. I have never gotten to truly thank them but they both are wonderful young men. Please hire them they a wonderful company unlike others I mentioned.</p>"

"The job went more smoothly than I expected. We had to replace our front door, as well as the surrounding framing and the sill underneath do to water damage. The extent of the damage couldn't really be determined until they got into it and had removed the existing door and flooring inside, and turned up to be a little worse than hoped, which was communicated to us immediately, along with what needed to be done to repair and that it would be an additional cost. They also had to remove the vinyl siding around the door, and the electrical outlet nearby, noted the corrosion in the electrical box and replaced that as well. On both the inside and outside it is better than the original installation. Start to Finish the Job took 5 working days, although the last two days were minimal, only extended because of replacing the tile that had to be removed, and allowing it time to cure before walking on. The guys were professional and friendly and not a disruption to our busy life with kids. We're very pleased with the job, and will call Eric Higgins for additional work in the future."

"I expected to use GAF shingles and their website included Roof Pros among their list of GAF Master Certified installers. Researching Roof Pros showed that they are accredited by the BBB, have proper licensing and insurance documents, and are members of  a professional organization (National Roofing Contractors Association). An appointment was made and Kevin Law visited to evaluate the job. He was thorough in reviewing the roof structure so as to anticipate potential problems ahead of the actual work. He described how a crew would descend on the house around 7:00 am and would be finished the same day! After taking measurement he estimated  the job's cost. He also invited us to visit a job site that was to begin the following week so as to see how the roofing crew worked. After seeing how smoothly it was going, considering that the price seemed reasonable, and that Roof Pros provides a 10-year warranty, we signed a contract for the job. There was to be no payment until the job was completed, at which point 100% was to be paid. <br /> The work went exactly as expected. The crew arrived at 7:00 am and were done, including a very thorough cleanup, at 2:30. The work flow was extremely smooth and well synchronized. Large sheets were run from the roof to the ground to control the flow of debris so that there was minimal damage to shrubbery. Some rot was found in the small roof above the house's entryway. They went to a local lumber yard, purchased plywood, and sized it to cover the existing wood with the plywood. The only slight downside to the process was my having to lay out lots of plastic sheeting to protect items stored in my attic: there are gaps in the rough boards that make up the roof decking and it was anticipated that bits of the old shingles would find their way down to the attic. <br /> A job very well done and relatively painless since it involved only 1 day of actual work. <br />"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Freeport, ME

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
