"We had a problem with a drain from a window well that would result in continuous flooding in our basement. We were finally able to fix the problem with the drain and hopefully prevent further flooding. So we contacted two businesses about mold remediation and removal of the damaged drywall and paneling. The first company, provided a good estimate but they were not as professional or reliable as we wanted. After searching online we were able to located American Home Services and then used Angie's List and saw they had great reviews. I immediately called them about receiving a free estimate and they offered to be out at my house the next day to give us an estimate. The President of the company was the person who came out to give us our estimate. He was able to explain everything that would need to be done a reasonable time frame (2 days). I received the completed estimate within 24 hours and scheduled the appointment shortly there after. American Home Services responded on time and placed plastic down in the hallway that leads to our basement to prevent any damage to our floors. My wife and I then waited as they worked for the day and after they completed the days work, they then showed us the basement and what they completed. Overnight they left a dehumidifier and other equipment to complete the work. The next day they came back and hand cleaned any spots that weren't completely cleaned within the first day's work. After they were done, I was then shown the basement and the work that was done. I then received a receipt for the services and a print out of all the work/chemicals that were used in the basement during the repair. American Home Services then provided us with a warranty to come back and fix any problems within the first year. Overall American Home Services is a great business that is willing to work with their clients and make sure that their needs and concerns are met.

"The service tech was prompt, polite, and professional.  The proposal lacked detail and price breakouts so it was difficult to determine how much was truly a necessary cost and how much were optional services that could have been excluded or deferred.  The estimate came in at nearly twice what the provider I chose estimated, due at least in part to services that I think were not absolutely required and items like the thermostat that were overkill for what I needed (e.g., a standard analog thermostat was sufficient but a more top line fully programmable thermostat was quoted).

"They replaced the part and adjusted some settings so that the a/c would shut off rather than flood the basement were the condenser to break again. The most noteworthy part of their service was their responsiveness. The auto-shut-off led the outside compressor to malfunction and only blow air rather than cool the house. We called them back, and they came right away and fixed everything for no charge. There should have been no charge, of course, but some companies might have tried anyway. Everything now works perfectly. They have earned our business with their professionalism, ability to diagnose and fix problems and, above all, commitment to customer service. I recommend them highly."

"I had to purchase material needed for the repair prior to the guy coming which wasn't ideal since I wasn't 100% sure what was needed but I got it close enough and he took the area apart and patched it up and gave me very clear instructions on what to do to give it the best chance of lasting (second coat of paint and checking the caulking in a few weeks). Very helpful and it turns out that all of the leaking, including what I thought was seeping under the wall, was from this area of rot and we've had no more problems in the 10 months since the repair was done.
